Integrating granular computing and bioinformatics technology for typical process routes elicitation

Aiming at the problems of hereditability and reusability for process planning data in the enterprises, a novel method for discovering typical process sequence by applying granular computing and similarity algorithm based on part features is put forward. Firstly, a calculating model of process sequence similarity is built through the analysis and comparison of part features, including machining features and topological relations between features, and a fuzzy similarity matrix of all the process sequences is established. Afterwards, according to the theory of fuzzy quotient space, which is one of the theoretical models of granular computing, a process sequence quotient space family with hierarchical structure is constructed. The granularity of every process sequence quotient space is measured by information entropy, and the information gain, which means the difference of information entropy between two adjacent quotient spaces, is calculated. Finally, a quotient space with the bigger information gain as well as the higher minimal process sequence similarity in process information granules is determined as an optimal process information granular layer, in which some typical process sequences are acquired from process information granules by using longest common subsequence algorithm. An application example verifies the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.

It is necessary to test the reliability of the operation of the machine itself for meeting the high-speed, ultra-precision, flexible, and other modern manufacturing and processing needs. In practical applications, the obtained reliability detection information presents a variety of uncertainties such as randomness, imprecision, incompleteness and so on, due to the complexity of the machining environment, the limitations of the sensor itself and the imperfections of the information acquisition technology. The uncertainty reasoning method is proposed to test reliability and accuracy precision. Based on the multi-sensor information characteristic, the rule of the credibility sets is established to achieve the operational reliability analysis. It can realise the uncertainty reasoning for the modal and reliability rules. Examples of analysis show that during the high-end CNC machine tools operational reliability analysis, it has a practical effect to study the uncertainty reasoning method of the modal and reliability propositional rule and the analysis basis can be provided for the precision degradation and fault diagnosis.

Configuration design is a process of composing customized product from a set of predefined component types with a set of well-defined rules which decide how items can be selected and combined. The configuration solving process is to instantiate all component types into instances. However, the configurator faces the problem of how to determine the instantiation order of component types in the configuration solving process. An unreasonable instantiation order may reduce the accuracy of the configuration result and extend the time required to finish the configuration. In response to the above problem, a heuristic configuration solving process planning method by imitating the crystal crystallization process (CCP) was proposed. According to the product configuration rules, the frequent itemset mining algorithm was used to mine the correlation between the attribute parameters of the product configuration unit. By imitating the CCP and utilizing the calculated coupling strength, the configurator will determine a suitable instantiation sequence for component types. This method has been applied in the GB10 elevator produced by Canny Elevator. It is found that the configuration accuracy has been improved and the consumption of time has been reduced.

 In this paper we develop an affordance-integrated approach to support design of the customized product non-standard part from conceptual period to detailed period. Firstly, the part affordances are identified by geometrical correlation analysis and shown by liaison graph. Secondly, a force transmission based method is developed to identify the main design parameters of a part, at the same time the design parameters and user requirements both can be mapped into the affordances. In turn, these affordances can be used as a bridge to construct the mapping relationship between the user requirements and the design parameters. In the end, both the force transmission method and the mapping relations are used to construct the detailed model of the non-standard part. A rear platen from the injection molding machine is employed to demonstrate the proposed approach and the result shows that this method can be feasible and useful in product design.
