Journal ArticleDOI

Bioaccumulation of 4-nonylphenol in marine animals--a re-evaluation.

TL;DR: The bioaccumulation of 4-nonylphenol has been studied in shrimps, mussels and sticklebacks exposed to (14)C-NP in running seawater and the bioconcentration factor determined of NP in fish was 1300 and in mussels, 3400.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodegradation of 4-nonylphenol in seawater and sediment.

TL;DR: Biodegradation of 14C-labelled nonylphenol at the concentration 11 microg litre (-1) in seawater has been estimated by collection and quantification of the formed labelled carbon dioxide and when the microorganisms had become adapted the degradation rate increased rapidly.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lethal and sublethal toxicity of 4-nonylphenol to the common mussel (Mytilus edulis L.)

TL;DR: Fertilization and early developmental success were not affected at the highest concentration tested, and sublethal effects, manifested as decreased byssus strength and change of scope for growth, were obtained at a concentration as low as 0.056 mg litre(-1).
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of suspended solids on bioavailability of hexachlorobenzene and lindane to the deposit-feeding marine bivalve, Abra nitida (Müller).

TL;DR: This has now been investigated using the deposit-feeding bivalve Abra nitida which was exposed to hexachlorobenzene and lindane by means of a new method for dosing of hydrophobic compounds to a continuous flow system in long term tests.
