Physical stability of nanosuspensions: investigation of the role of stabilizers on Ostwald ripening.

The microcrystals of monoclinic europium molybdate, α-Eu2(MoO4)3, have been fabricated by solid-state synthesis at T = 753–1273 K for 300 h. The crystal structure of α-Eu2(MoO4)3 has been refined by the Rietveld method and was found to belong to the space group C2/c with unit cell parameters a = 7.5576(1), b = 11.4709(2), c = 11.5158(2) A, and β = 109.278(1)° (RB = 3.39%). About 40 narrow Raman lines have been observed in the Raman spectrum of the α-Eu2(MoO4)3 powder sample. The luminescence spectra of α-Eu2(MoO4)3 under excitation at 355 and 457.9 nm reveal domination of induced electric dipole transition 5D0 → 7F2 and the presence of ultranarrow lines at 5D0 → 7F0 and 5D1 → 7F0 transitions.

Synthesis and Spectroscopic Properties of Monoclinic α-Eu2(MoO4)3

Nanostructured composites of inorganic and organic materials are attracting extensive interest for electronic and optoelectronic device applications. In this paper, we introduce a general method for the fabrication of metal sulfide nanoparticle/polymer films employing a low-cost and low temperature route compatible with large-scale device manufacturing. Our approach is based upon the controlled in situ thermal decomposition of a solution processable metal xanthate precursor complex in a semiconducting polymer film. To demonstrate the versatility of our method, we fabricate a CdS/P3HT nanocomposite film and show that the metal sulfide network inside the polymer film assists in the absorption of visible light and enables the achievement of high yields of charge photogeneration at the CdS/P3HT heterojunction. Photovoltaic devices based upon such nanocomposite films show solar light to electrical energy conversion efficiencies of 0.7% under full AM1.5 illumination and 1.2% under 10% incident power, demonstrating the potential of such nanocomposite films for low-cost photovoltaic devices.

Nanostructured Hybrid Polymer−Inorganic Solar Cell Active Layers Formed by Controllable in Situ Growth of Semiconducting Sulfide Networks

The object of this study is to synthesize Li3Ba2Gd3(MoO4)8 doped with Eu3+ ions and prepared with solid-state reaction technology. The results show that the dominant emission peak of Li3Ba2Gd3−x(MoO4)8:Eux phosphor is 5D0 → 7F2 (614 nm). The intensity of the emission from 5D0 to 7F2 is 3.8 times higher than that of commercial phosphors, ZnS:(Mn2+,Te2+) when the Eu3+ concentration is x = 2.4. The CIE chromaticity coordinates of the red emission of the Li3Ba2Gd0.6Eu2.4(MoO4)8 phosphor are (0.67, 0.33), which is the NTSC system standard for red chromaticity. Because there are two regions in the excitation spectra of Li3Ba2Gd3(MoO4)8:Eu3+phosphor, one is assigned from the charge-transfer state (CTS) band at about 320 nm, and the other is from the intra-4f transitions from 350 to 500 nm. Hence, the phosphors could be strongly excited by near-UV and blue LED in solid-state lighting technology. Synthesis and Photoluminescence Characteristics of High Color Purity and Brightness Li3Ba2Gd3(MoO4)8:Eu3+ Red Phosphors

The subsolidus region of the ternary salt system Tl2MoO4-Fe2(MoO4)3-Hf(MoO4)2 was studied by X-ray powder diffraction. New compounds Tl5FeHf(MoO4)6 (5: 1: 2) and Tl(Fe,Hf0.5)(MoO4)3 (1: 1: 1). were found to be formed in this system. Crystals of new ternary molybdate of the composition Tl(FeHf0.5)(MoO4)3 were grown by spontaneous flux crystallization. Its composition and crystal structure were refined based on X-ray diffraction data. The mixed three-dimensional framework of the crystal structure is composed of Mo tetrahedra sharing O vertices with (Fe,Hf)O6 octahedra. The thallium atoms occupy wide channels in the framework.

Synthetic procedures were developed and X-ray diffraction analysis was performed for two mixed-ligand compounds of europium(III) with diethyldithiocarbamate ions and 2,2′-bipyridyl (2,2′-Bipy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (Phen): Eu(S2CN(C2H5)2)3(2,2′-Bipy) (I) and Eu(S2CN(C2H5)2)3Phen (II). The structures of the complexes consist of discrete monomer molecules; the coordination polyhedron of Eu (EuN2S6 is a node) is a distorted dodecahedron.

Crystal structure investigation of ternary molybdates Li3Ba2Ln3(MoO4)3 (Ln=Gd, Tm)

Single crystals of binary molybdate Nd2ZrMoO4)9 were grown. The crystal structure of this compound was investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis (CAD-4 diffractometer, MoKα radiation, 2844 reflections. R = 0.0230), and a new type of structure was found. The crystals are trigonal with cell dimensions a = 9.804(1), c = 58.467(12) a, V= 4867(1) a3, Z = 6, dcalc = 4.098 g/cm3, space group R 3 − c. The structure involves polyhedra of three types: MoO4 tetrahedra, ZrO6 octahedra, and NdO9 tricapped trigonal prisms linked by their common vertices into an original three-dimensional framework.
