Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid separation of isolated hepatocytes or similar tissue fragments for analysis of cell constituents.

TL;DR: The usefulness of the technique is illustrated by measurements of hepatocyte constituents (glutamate, aspartate, alanine, K+) which show large concentration gradients against the extracellular medium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibition of hepatocyte lipogenesis by nitric oxide donor: could nitric oxide regulate lipid synthesis?

TL;DR: Impairment of lipogenesis by GSNO appears not to be limited by energy supply and now adduced, but not proven, to be operative via the degree of inactivation of cytosolic CoA where NO production is increased as in demyelinating diseases, chronic arthritis or colitis and in wasting diseases such as AIDS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gluconeogenesis from propionate in kidney and liver of the vitamin B12-deficient rat.

TL;DR: The addition of hydroxocobalamin or dimethylbenzimidazolylcobamide coenzyme to kidney-cortex slices from vitamin B(12)-deficient rats in vitro failed to restore the normal capacity for propionate metabolism and there was a corresponding fall in the rates of glucose synthesis from Propionate in both tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decreased sensitivity to the inhibitory effect of insulin on the secretion of very-low-density lipoprotein in cultured hepatocytes from fructose-fed rats.

TL;DR: Under these conditions, hepatocytes from fructose-fed groups were less sensitive to insulin inhibition as compared with those from the control-fed group, evidenced by the decreased inhibitory effect of insulin on the secretion of both total and newly synthesized VLDL TAG.
