Theoretical and experimental studies of free convection and stratification of electrolyte in a lead-acid cell during recharge

TL;DR: In this paper, free convection and stratification of the electrolyte in a lead-acid cell with porous electrodes and during recharge were studied theoretically and experimentally, and the results from the experiments were compared with numerical results obtained from the mathematical model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical and experimental studies of free convection and stratification of electrolyte in a copper refining cell

TL;DR: In this paper, the concentration and the velocity fields in a small copper refining cell with vertical electrodes were studied theoretically and experimentally, and the agreement between experimental results and theoretical predictions was found to be very good.
Journal ArticleDOI

Free convection and stratification of electrolyte in the lead—acid cell without/ with a separator during cycling

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the separator was shown to be dual: it narrows the space between the electrodes, thereby lowering the electrolyte velocity, and act as a barrier which hinders sulphuric acid to freely diffuse out and into the electrode.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical and experimental studies of free convection and stratification of electrolyte in a copper refining cell—II. Influence of the supporting electrolyte

TL;DR: In this paper, the concentration and velocity fields in a small copper refining cell with plane vertical electrodes were studied experimentally, where the electrolyte was an aqueous solution of 0.3 M CuSO 4 with 1.0 M H 2 SO 4 as a supporting electrolyte.
