Journal ArticleDOI

The double-kink model for low-temperature deformation of B.C.C. metals and solid solutions

TL;DR: In this paper, the energy of formation of a double kink was calculated as a function of stress, for various boundary conditions, values of elastic constants, and for different dislocation lengths.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of the mechanism of thermally activated deformation in tantalum and tantalum-base alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the activation energy and activation volume of tantalum and tantalum-base solid-solution alloys were obtained from both constant stress (creep) tests and constant strain rate (tensile or compression) tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low-temperature creep of alpha iron

TL;DR: In this article, the activation energy and volume of α iron were measured directly by differential temperature, strain rate, and stress techniques, and the results showed that activation volume is independent of strain rate in the range 10−5−1/min.
