A RFID comprising a value sensor such as a pressure sensor is integrated with a liquid drug container to enable wireless pressure or other drug relevant parameter value monitoring and code-matching of drug container to a medical delivery device.

Medical device with value sensor

A medication delivery device comprising a system that is able to sense if the delivery device is in actual physical contact with a human being or if the delivery device has been abandoned. The system comprises an electronic control and a touch sensitive switch preferably formed as a part of the housing of the medication delivery device. The housing can be divided into two parts each constituting separate electrical conductors being spaced apart from each other by an insulating material. When the two parts a temporarily bridged e.g. by the skin of a human being a direct current path between the parts are created, which can provide an electrical signal at the electronic control. When a dose has been set, absence of the signal will cause the electronic control to cancel the set dose and to sound an alarm.

Medication delivery device

The invention relates to an injection device for injecting a dose of drug. Theinjection device com prises a housing, a dose setting mechanism being operable to set a desired dose, an injection mechanism comprising a piston rod (7) adapted to cooperate with a piston positioned in a cartridge containing a drug to be delivered in order to cause a set dose to be delivered from the cartridge via the injection device, a dosage tube (6), and retaining means arranged to prevent axial movement of the dosage tube in a distal direction relatively to the housing during dose setting. The dose setting mechanism com prises a rotatable dose knob (24), operation of the dose setting mechanism causing energy to be stored in a spring member. The injection mechanism is driven by releasing energy previously stored in the spring member during dose setting.

An injection device comprising a locking nut

An injection device for injecting a dose of drug, e.g. insulin for diabetes treatment, in which energy is stored in a spring member during dose setting. The stored energy is released and used for driving an injection mechanism during injection of a previously set dose. The injection device further comprises means for electronically detecting the amount of a set dose and/or means for electronically detecting the amount of an injected dose. The electronic detecting means allows storage and/or logging of data relating to injections performed using the injection device.

Injection device with electronic detecting means

The present invention relates to a medical injection device (1 ) for use in combination with a medicament filled cartridge (2), the injection device being provided with a spring-assisted injecting mechanism where energy released from the spring moves a plunger (3) of a held cartridge (2). Sensor circuitry is adapted to detect speed related data during injection so at to detect an abnormal speed condition, such as a needle blocking condition, a priming condition or an air purge condition. The invention also relates to a medical injection device comprising sensor circuitry and user communicating means to provide a recommended needle retraction waiting period which is dependent on the speed of injection.

Electronically monitored injection device

The casing (12A) of a hand-held instrument (12) provides a contact surface for a capacitive switching circuit for energizing a controlled device (63). The switching circuit and device are remote from the contact area. The switching circuit includes an input circuit (80) incorporating the body capacitance (C B ) and a variable capacitor (81) which is adjusted to balance the circuit in the presence of only stray capacitance (C E ) without body capacitance so that the switching circuit remains unactuated. The addition of body capacitance will actuate the switching circuit. In the illustrated embodiment, the input circuit (80) is energized by a periodic signal. An output signal is coupled from the switching circuit to the controlled device through a delay off circuit (88) which has a delay time longer than the period of the periodic signal so that if contact with the instrument is lost momentarily, there is no interruption in the controlled function. This is particularly advantageous in the case of a medical device or dental handpiece where light from a high intensity source is coupled back to the instrument for illuminating the work area.
