Journal ArticleDOI
A detailed study of the effect of instrumental parameters on the shape of a mike peak
TL;DR: In this article, it is shown that the shape of the peak of an ion is sensitive to particular instrumental parameters and that, if special precautions are not taken in setting up the instrument, the detailed peak shapes and the widths of the peaks at half-height will depend upon the inaccuracies in the setting-up procedure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the signal-to-noise ratio in mass and ion kinetic energy spectrometers
TL;DR: The ZAB-2F instrument manufactured by VG-Micromass Ltd is capable of measuring peaks corresponding to the arrival of ions at a rate of the order of 1 ion s−l.
