Chemical‐state effects in Auger electron spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used Auger spectroscopy as a probe of local chemical environment both in the gas and condensed phases using a systematically chosen series of molecules [H2O, CH3OH, (CH3)2O), CH4, C2H2, and C2C2].
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical information in Auger spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Auger spectra for surface elemental analysis and showed that the relative peak positions are directly related to the ionization potentials of the various valence orbitals while the peak intensities are a direct measure of the variation of local atomic (as opposed to bonding) charge populations across the valence orbits.
