Journal ArticleDOI

The C=S stretching frequency and the “−N−C=S bands” in the infrared

TL;DR: In this paper, a correlation of the infrared spectra of thiocarbonyl derivatives based on the literature data has been carried out, and the C=S stretching frequency in thiofenchone has been found around 1180 cm−1 which is in fair agreement with the value calculated for thioformaldehyde.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infrared spectra of substituted benzoyl chlorides and benzoyl bromides. Explanation of the anomalous carbonyl band-splittings*

TL;DR: The extent of splitting of the carbonyl band in benzoyl chlorides varies with substitution as discussed by the authors, and the results are interpreted in terms of intramolecular vibration effects (Fermi resonance).
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanism of the addition of alcohols to substituted phenylisothiocyanates : Electrical effects of the substituents on the reaction

TL;DR: In this article, the addition reaction of alcohols to substituted phenylisothiocyanates is found to be a second-order reaction and the reaction is catalysed by triethylamine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Substituent effects on the addition of alcohols and anilines to organic isothiocyanates

TL;DR: In this paper, the addition of substituted anilines to alkyl isothiocyanates has been studied and the results clearly show that electron-withdrawing groups favour the addition reaction.
