A power system having a power converter with an adaptive controller. The power system is coupled to a load and includes a power system controller that receives a signal indicating a system operational state of the load and selects a power converter operational state as a function thereof. The power system also includes a power converter with a power switch that conducts for a duty cycle to provide a regulated output characteristic at an output thereof. The power converter also includes a controller that receives a command from the power system controller to enter the power converter operational state and provides a signal to control the duty cycle of the power switch as a function of the output characteristic and in accordance with the command, thereby regulating an internal operating characteristic of the power converter to improve an operating efficiency thereof as a function of the system operational state.

Some embodiments of a task responsibility system may be implemented as an application to support people, machines, or both functioning in a manufacturing or production environment, warehouse environment, or other work environment. The focus is on a plant-local solution. In such circumstances, the task responsibility system may identify and direct one or more tasks to a computer-implemented folder independent of the worker(s), machine(s), or a combination thereof assigned to the folder. Thus, the system (or a user of the system) is permitted to dynamically assign a worker or machine to the computer-implemented folder subsequent to the tasks being directed thereto, in which case the worker or machine may be responsible for the tasks that are directed to the folder.

A synchronous step-down DC to DC converter includes a bootstrap capacitor monitored by a controller for maintaining a desired bootstrap voltage to drive a high side NMOS switch. The controller temporarily increases the duty cycle of the low side NMOS switch when the bootstrap voltage decreases below a predetermined level to maintain a minimum level of charge on the bootstrap capacitor.

A controller for a power converter and method of operating the same employable with a bridge rectifier having first and second synchronous rectifier switches. In one embodiment, the controller includes an amplifier configured to enable a turn-on delay for the first synchronous rectifier switch. The controller also includes a discharge switch having first and second switched terminals coupled to gate and source terminals, respectively, of the first synchronous rectifier switch and configured to discharge a gate-to-source capacitance of the first synchronous rectifier switch to enable a turn off thereof.

A power converter employing a tapped inductor and method of operating the same. In one embodiment, the power converter includes first and second tapped inductors including a tapped winding having a first section and a second section with a tap therebetween. The power converter also includes first and second active phase legs including a main switch series-coupled with an input node of the power converter and the first section of the tapped windings of the first and second tapped inductors, respectively. The first and second active phase legs also include an auxiliary switch interposed between the second section of the tapped windings of the first and second tapped inductors, respectively, and an output node of the power converter.

Switching dc-to-dc converters

A regulated power supply having a regulator connected between a source of unregulated voltage and the primary winding of a transformer. The output terminals of the supply are connected to the secondary winding of the transformer. A control loop is provided comprising the output terminals, a control amplifier and a regulator. In addition, a forward feed control circuit is connected in circuit with the transformer and the control loop in order to provide a signal which will compensate for changes in the input signal level.

A controllable shunt current path such as the conducting emitter-to-collector path of a first transistor, is connected in shunt with the emitter-to-base path of a conducting output transistor. In response to a turnoff signal for the output transistor, the first transistor is caused to conduct more heavily in a direction to stop forward conduction of the emitterto-base diode of the output transistor and in this way to speed up its turnoff. Other features of the circuits illustrated include overload current protection and means for speeding up the discharge of any charge present at an output terminal upon switching of an output transistor from a nonconducting to a conducting condition. One of the circuits illustrated also includes means for ensuring proper sharing of current drive to a pair of transistors and means for ensuring ''''soft'''' saturation of the output transistor.

A low cost airborne weather radar system suitable for mounting in the wing of a single engine aircraft. The radar antenna is a truncated parabolic dish. The receiver/transmitter, relative to parameters used in a conventional receiver/transmitter operates at relatively small peak transmitter power with a relatively long transmitter pulsewidth which, in turn, is matched to the receiver bandwidth. The relatively small peak power allows for acceptable range performance due to the relatively larger pulse width. Further, the receiver/transmitter assembly is significantly reduced in size so as to facilitate location in an aircraft wing and be thereby directly connected to the antenna to eliminate range reducing intercabling losses.
