Thermophysical Properties of Imidazolium-Based Ionic Liquids: The Effect of Aliphatic versus Aromatic Functionality
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of imidazolium-based ionic liquids with varying functionalities from aliphatic to aromatic groups and a fixed anion, bis[(trifluoromethane)sulfonyl]amide, were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fragility of ionic liquids measured by Flash differential scanning calorimetry
TL;DR: In this article, a series of imidazolium-based ionic liquids with varying functionalities from aliphatic to aromatic groups and a fixed bis[(trifluoromethane)sulfonyl]amide ([NTf2]−) anion were characterized using a commercial rapid scanning nanocalorimetry instrument, the Mettler Toledo Flash DSC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rheology of Imidazolium-Based Ionic Liquids with Aromatic Functionality
Ran Tao,Sindee L. Simon +1 more
TL;DR: A series of imidazolium-based ionic liquids with cyclic and aromatic groups and a bis[trifluoromethane)sulfonyl]amide anion were characterized using dynamic and steady shear rheology in a wide temperature range as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bulk and shear rheology of silica/polystyrene nanocomposite: Reinforcement and dynamics
Ran Tao,Sindee L. Simon +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 10 wt % silica nanoparticle-filled polystyrene nanocompo- site was used for bulk and shear rheological studies, and it was shown that the underlying mechanisms for both responses are similar at short times and that the long-time chain modes available to the shear are not available to bulk, consistent with Plazek's earlier findings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pressure‐volume‐temperature and glass transition behavior of silica/polystyrene nanocomposite
Ran Tao,Sindee L. Simon +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) behavior and glass transition behavior of a 10 wt % silica nanoparticle-filled polystyrene (PS) nanocomposite sample are measured using a custom-built pressurizable dilatometer.
