Ricoeur’s “Allegory” and Jakobson’s Metaphoric/Metonymic Principles

TL;DR: In this article, the metaphoric symbol and metonymic symbol are defined as two types of symbols: the metaphorical symbol in which the literal meaning of an expression is discarded, and the meta-symbol in which no such discarding occurs, while the original meaning is retained and added to the second meaning.
