Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma osteopontin levels are associated with the presence and extent of coronary artery disease
Reiko Ohmori,Yukihiko Momiyama,Hiroaki Taniguchi,Rie Takahashi,Masatoshi Kusuhara,Haruo Nakamura,Fumitaka Ohsuzu +6 more
TL;DR: Plasma OPN levels were found to be associated with the presence and extent of CAD and correlated with the number of calcified segment, but were not independently associated with coronary calcification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant activities of black and yellow soybeans against low density lipoprotein oxidation.
TL;DR: Black soybeans may be more effective in inhibiting LDL oxidation than yellow soybeans because of total polyphenols contents in its seed coat, and aglycones, which are rich in soybeans fermented or hydrolyzed by beta-glucosidase, may play a crucial role in the prevention of oxidation-related diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Associations Between Serum Resistin Levels and Insulin Resistance, Inflammation, and Coronary Artery Disease
Reiko Ohmori,Yukihiko Momiyama,Ryuichi Kato,Hiroaki Taniguchi,Masatsune Ogura,Makoto Ayaori,Haruo Nakamura,Fumitaka Ohsuzu +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Steppan et al. reported that serum resistin levels were elevated in obese mice and to be decreased by thiazolidinediones and antiresistin antibodies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of lipid-lowering therapy with atorvastatin on atherosclerotic aortic plaques detected by noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging
Atsushi Yonemura,Yukihiko Momiyama,Zahi A. Fayad,Makoto Ayaori,Reiko Ohmori,Kenji Higashi,Teruyoshi Kihara,Shojiro Sawada,Noriyuki Iwamoto,Masatsune Ogura,Hiroaki Taniguchi,Masatoshi Kusuhara,Masayoshi Nagata,Haruo Nakamura,Seiichi Tamai,Fumitaka Ohsuzu +15 more
TL;DR: One-year 20-mg atorvastatin treatment induced regression of thoracic aortic plaques with marked LDL cholesterol reduction, whereas it resulted in only retardation of plaque progression in abdominal aorta.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo magnetic resonance evaluation of associations between aortic atherosclerosis and both risk factors and coronary artery disease in patients referred for coronary angiography.
Hiroaki Taniguchi,Yukihiko Momiyama,Zahi A. Fayad,Reiko Ohmori,Kazuhiro Ashida,Teruyoshi Kihara,Akiko Hara,Koh Arakawa,Akira Kameyama,Kumiko Noya,Masayoshi Nagata,Haruo Nakamura,Fumitaka Ohsuzu +12 more
TL;DR: The thoracic and abdominal aortas may have different susceptibilities to risk factors, however, plasma inflammatory markers appear to reflect total extent of aortic atherosclerosis.
