Monofunctional DNA-platinum(II) adducts block frequently DNA polymerases

TL;DR: The question of whether monofunctional DNA platinum(II) adducts block synthesis of DNA by purified DNA polymerases of different types and origin has been investigated by comparing the time dependence of synthesis arrest and of DNA adduct formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Impact of ambient temperature on inflammation-induced encephalopathy in endotoxemic mice—role of phosphoinositide 3-kinase gamma

TL;DR: Thermoregulatory adaptation in response to ambient temperatures below the thermoneutral range exacerbates LPS-induced blood–brain barrier injury and neuroinflammation and preclinical research targeting severe brain inflammation responses is seriously biased when basic physiological prerequisites of mammal species such as preferred ambient temperature are ignored.
Book ChapterDOI

Towards Understanding Regulation of Energy Homeostasis by Ceramide Synthases

TL;DR: This work has demonstrated that mammalian members of the conserved Lass/CerS family had also effects on lipid homeostasis, and is currently interested to find how members of this family e.g., schlank may act as regulators coordinating cellular and organismic lipidHomeostasis in animals mechanistically.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peroxidative status and glutathione content of the brain in normal weight and intra-uterine growth-retarded newborn piglets

TL;DR: The intra-uterine growth retardation toBody weights of half the average body weights of the respective litter did not influence the peroxidative status and the GSH/GSSG equilibrium in the brain of newborn piglets.

The ER protein Creld regulates ER-mitochondria contact dynamics and respiratory complex 1 activity

TL;DR: It is found that reduced respiratory complex I activity lowers hydrogen peroxide levels, which disturbs neuronal activity and leads to impaired locomotion in Creld mutants, presenting a new paradigm of neuron dysfunction as a result of impaired ER-mitochondria communication and a new model for Parkinson’s disease.
