Abstract Background A core component of stigma is being set apart as a distinct, dichotomously different kind of person. We examine whether information on a continuum from mental health to mental illness reduces stigma. Method Online survey experiment in a quota sample matching the German population for age, gender and region (n = 1679). Participants randomly received information on either (1) a continuum, (2) a strict dichotomy of mental health and mental illness, or (3) no information. We elicited continuity beliefs and stigma toward a person with schizophrenia or depression. Results The continuum intervention decreased perceived difference by 0.19 standard deviations (SD, P < 0.001) and increased social acceptance by 0.18 SD (P = 0.003) compared to the no-text condition. These effects were partially mediated by continuity beliefs (proportion mediated, 25% and 26%), which increased by 0.19 SD (P < 0.001). The dichotomy intervention, in turn, decreased continuity beliefs and increased notions of difference, but did not affect social acceptance. Conclusion Attitudes towards a person with mental illness can be improved by providing information on a mental health-mental illness continuum.

Unresolved anxiety can lead to some impact on which a person tends to have a negative assessment of the meaning of life, decreased quality of life, emotional changes such as chronic depression and psychosis disorders. The general objective in this research is to find out the symptoms of anxiety symptoms of chronic kidney disease patients undergo hemodialysis. This research employed cross sectional design. This study used non-probability sampling type quota sampling. Sample was calculated using the Slovin formula obtained a sample size of 171. The proportion of patient with chronic kidney disease treated with hemodialysis based on the anxiety level resulting mild anxiety (86.5%) and moderate anxiety (13.5%). There are symptoms of anxiety symptoms in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.

The anxiety symptoms among chronic kidney disease patients who undergo hemodialysis therapy

Introduction: The high stigma in the community towards mental disorders does not only affect families and mental disorders patients but also on the patterns of care and care, for example, mental disorders patients are isolated so they do not interact with the community with shackles. The purpose of this research is perceptions in the community about how to treat patients with mental disorders. Method: This study used a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach with ten participants. The technique of selecting participants was purposive sampling with the criteria of men and women aged > 17 years, living around halfway house and who had interacted with mental patients at halfway house. Retrieval of data on ten participants with in-depth interviews and field notes were then analyzed using the Colaizzi method. Results: In this study, 8 themes were identified, namely 5 themes (community understanding of mental disorders, community stigma, community response, community expectations and community experiences with mental patients) for the first specific purpose and 3 themes (treatment, form of care and caregiver factors nurse) for the second special purpose. Conclusion: Community perception is influenced by several factors including the factor of maintaining distance from mental patients, tolerance and support factors, social limitation factors, and factors of prejudice and misunderstanding. Future research can explore in-depth people's perceptions about the treatment of mental disorders patients, more specifically, for example, the care of mental patients in hospitals and at home.

Community perception around halfway house about care of mental disorders

Background: Efforts to improve services to improve the soul have been carried out by personnel, by conducting Group Activity Therapy (TAK) activities. The problems of 1000 souls that can be overcome through TAK are clients with social isolation, hallucinations, withdrawal and low selfesteem. The implementation of this activity aims to increase internal and external stimulation. As well as increasing a sense of caring, solidarity, and togetherness with people with mental disabilities. Method: Community Service Activities using mentoring intervention methods for students together with Nanga Community Health Center nurse partners provide Group Activity Therapy; sensory stimulation of singing and dancing with people with mental disabilities. Result: From the results of the evaluation of the implementation of TAK after being given Activity Therapy, it is known that from 7 participants who are able to socialize and follow the Directional leader as many as 6 people (85.7%) and who are not able to cooperate in participating in activities according to the Referral leader as many as 1 person (14.3%). Conclution: There are differences in social behavior responses before and after being given Group Activity Therapy.

Terapi Aktivitas Kelompok (TAK) Melatih Stimulasi Sensori Menyanyi dan Menari Bersama Warga Disabilitas Mental Di Dusun Ru Wolong Desa Lela Kabupaten Sikka

Introduction: The stigma in families who are caring for patients who experience mental illness in the modern era is high. Some of the experiences of patients with mental illness reveal that they are still stigmatized. This is not just the patients but also the families that care for them. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review relating to the stigma felt by the families of the patients experiencing mental illness. Methods: The database used  to identify the potential articles was Scopus. The articles were limited to a range of 5 years from 2014 through to 2018. The keywords used in the literature review were "Stigma Family" And "Mental illness". Results: Fifteen articles from eight countries were evaluated. The families were confirmed as experiencing stigma: labeling, stereotyping, separation and discrimination. Stigma means that the families face psychological, social and intrapersonal consequences which can reduce the family quality of life and family functioning. Conclusion: There are opportunities for negative outcomes related to the family resilience. One of the results of the study revealed that psycho-education programs using education interventions can be an alternative intervention to reduce stigma.

Stigma in Family Patients Who Have a Psychiatric Disorder: A Systematic Review

The stigma felt towards clients with mental disorders is still negative in community. Health education programs are run by health workers in order to reduce the stigma for clients with mental disorders in the community. These programs have been widely implemented but there has been a low impact on the community thus far. The aim of this study was to gain an insight into the stigma focused on clients with mental disorders in the community. The databases used were SCOPUS, ProQuest, SAGE and Science Direct in order to identify potential articles. The articles were limited to being published in a range of 5 years from 2013 to 2018. The keywords used in the literature review were “stigma” AND “community” AND “mental disorder”. This study reports on the latest experience of stigma in relation to clients with mental disorders. The stigma is given from the community to the client with a mental disorder at 4 levels, namely labeling, stereotype, exclusion and discrimination. This makes the social life of the clients disturbed. Stigma and the prevention of it must therefore be further developed in the community. The results of this systematic review should be considered to reduce and prevent stigma in clients with mental disorders.

Prevention of the Stigma of Mental Disorders in the Community

Body image is an important issue for adolescents. This is related to the surrounding appearance that is considered attractive by most people where beautiful people are those who have a tall body and white skin. The purpose of this Systematic review is to analyze the effect of psychological interventions on adolescent's body image. Systematic review accessed five electronic databases (Scopus, MEDLINE, CINAHL, Science Direct, and ProQuest). The search was carried out from April to June. 25 articles were analyzed. Most of the psychological interventions provided offline were 16 studies and the rest were through indirect intervention methods. The research design consisted of 17 randomized control trials and 8 studies using quasi-experimental. Two types of psychological interventions can be used as alternatives to enhance and maintain a positive body image: direct psychological intervention and indirect psychological intervention using technology.

Psychological Interventions in Improving Positive Body Image in Adolescents: A Systematic Review

A genetic approach for authentication on morphological differences of cultivated pompano species in Indonesia. Biodiversitas 23: 4561-4569. Due to the increasing demand for animal protein, the Batam Marine Cultivation Fisheries Center (BPBL Batam) developed pompano (Trachinotus spp.) for aquaculture. Because of the different external characteristics, local communities recognized three types of pompano, i.e., bintang, emas, andhibridpompano. The study aimed to prove the authenticity of cultivated pompano (Trachinotus spp.) with morphological differences based on a DNA barcoding approach with 16S ribosomal RNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) partial genesequences. A total of 30 barcode sequences from COI and 16S rRNA genes were obtained from three types of pompano, and all samples were validated as Trachinotus blochii with percent identity of 99.85-100% by COI and 100% by 16S rRNA. Emas, bintang, and hibrid pompano also have the same or very similar GC content both based on COI and 16S rRNA sequences. The average genetic distances calculated between species in the genusTrachinotus were 0.09 and 0.02 among COI and 16S rRNA sequences, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis constructed from COI and 16S rRNA gene sequences of all types of pompano and related species segregated genus into one clade (T. blochii) and the outgroup (other species) as another clade. This study contributed essential genetic data to the NCBI database both COI and 16S rRNA gene sequences. Despite having morphological differences, all types of pompano were successfully authenticated into the same species because they have identical nucleotide base arrangements and can be presumed from the same ancestor.
