Journal ArticleDOI

Three-dimensional localization of maxillary canines with cone-beam computed tomography.

TL;DR: 3D volumetric imaging of impacted canines can show the following: presence or absence of the canine, size of the follicle, inclination of the long axis of the tooth, relative buccal and palatal positions, amount of the bone covering the bone, 3D proximity and resorption of roots of adjacent teeth, condition of adjacent tooth, local anatomic considerations, and overall stage of dental development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of cross-section airway configuration of obstructive sleep apnea.

TL;DR: Ten OSA patients and 10 non-OSA control subjects were imaged using cone-beam computed tomography (NewTom QR-DVT9000) to compare their upper airway structure to identify the exact location and nature of the obstruction in obstructive sleep apnea patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential diagnosis of large periapical lesions using cone-beam computed tomography measurements and biopsy.

TL;DR: Cone Beam Computed Tomography may provide a more accurate diagnosis than biopsy and histology providing a diagnosis without invasive surgery and/or waiting a year to see if nonsurgical therapy is effective.
Journal ArticleDOI

Imaging software accuracy for 3-dimensional analysis of the upper airway.

TL;DR: All 6 imaging software programs were reliable but had errors in the volume segmentations of the oropharynx, and Mimics, Dolphin3D, ITK-Snap, and OsiriX were similar and more accurate than InVivo Dental and Ondemand3D for upper airway assessment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oropharyngeal airway changes after rapid palatal expansion evaluated with cone-beam computed tomography.

TL;DR: There was no evidence to support the hypothesis that RPE could enlarge oropharyngeal airway volume, and cone-beam computed tomography was used to assess changes in the volume of the opharynx in growing patients with maxillary constriction treated by rapid palatal expansion.
