Investigations on the effects of ultrasonic vibrations in the extrusion process

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of ultrasonic vibrations on the material flow stress, the equivalent plastic strain distributions and the extrusion force were considered, and it was shown that applying the ultrasonic vibration had no significant affect on the equivalent material strain of the material.
Journal ArticleDOI

Three dimensional numerical analyses of asymmetric rolling

TL;DR: In this paper, a simulation of asymmetric cold rolling is presented by using explicit analysis procedure, where the effect of asymmetry due to variations in the roll angular velocity on the normal and shear stress distributions, length of the shear zones, sheet curvature, rolling force and torque discussed and optimized value for these parameters have been attained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Static analysis of cross-ply laminated plates with integrated surface piezoelectric layers using differential quadrature

TL;DR: In this article, a 3D solution for static analysis of a cross-ply rectangular plate imbedded in piezoelectric layers is presented using differential quadrature method (DQM) and Fourier series approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigating chatter vibration in deep drilling, including process damping and the gyroscopic effect

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of spindle speed selection on the diameter of the hole and the radius of the radial widths of cut (RWOC) at different spindle speeds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigation of chatter suppression in slender endmill via a frictional damper

TL;DR: In this article, a frictional damper was proposed to enhance structural damping leading to the chatter suppression in the slender end mill tool. But the damper is composed of a core press fitted inside a multi-fingered hollow cylinder and the core and cylinder both are fitted into an axial hole inside the tool.
