Effects of enzyme replacement therapy in Fabry disease—A comprehensive review of the medical literature

TL;DR: Investigations of early initiation of enzyme replacement therapy to determine the optimal time to start treatment to prevent irreversible organ damage and the value of adjunctive and supportive therapies should also be rigorously analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Calcium channel blockers and transmitter release at the normal human neurornuscular junction

TL;DR: The pharmacologic profile of neuromuscular transmission observed in normal human muscles indicates that P-like channels mediate transmitter release at the motor nerve terminals, and this work studies the pharmacologic sensitivity of the transmitter release process to different calcium channel blockers innormal human muscles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonconvulsive status epilepticus in the elderly: a case-control study

TL;DR: Nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) is a usually underdiagnosed and potentially treatable cause of altered awareness in the elderly and to assess etiologies, associations with other medical problems, and prognosis of NCSE in a population aged >75 years was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome associated with PML in AIDS: a treatable disorder.

TL;DR: An HIV-1-infected patient with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy presented clinical deterioration and contrast-enhancing lesions on brain nuclear MR after the initiation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), which identified an inflammatory reaction compatible with immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brain MRI findings in patients with Fabry disease.

TL;DR: Brain MRI studies in 46 consecutive patients with Fabry disease showed that FD is a treatable disorder that should be routinely included in the differential diagnosis of ischemic and microhemorrhagic lesions in young adults.
