Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-effectiveness of conventional cytology and HPV DNA testing for cervical cancer screening in Colombia
Oscar Andrés-Gamboa,Liliana Chicaíza,Mario García-Molina,Jorge Alberto Galindo Díaz,Mauricio González,Raúl Murillo,Mónica Ballesteros,Ricardo Sánchez +7 more
TL;DR: HPV DNA testing is a cost-effective alternative for screening in Colombia and not only high coverage but high follow-up rates are critical for successful screening programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of the FACT-G scale for evaluating quality of life in cancer patients in Colombia
TL;DR: The FACT-G scale is an instrument that performs consistently over time, with evidence of responsiveness, and the finding of misfitting items in two subscales imposes caution in interpreting the scores of these domains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution patterns of infection with multiple types of human papillomaviruses and their association with risk factors.
Sara C. Soto-De Leon,Milena Camargo,Ricardo Sánchez,Marina Muñoz,Antonio Perez-Prados,Antonio Purroy,Manuel E. Patarroyo,Manuel A. Patarroyo +7 more
TL;DR: The observed number of women having either a single infection or more than 4 viral types was smaller than expected, while for those infected with 2–4 HPV types it was larger than expected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection by PCR of human papillomavirus in Colombia: Comparison of GP5+/6+ and MY09/11 primer sets.
Milena Camargo,Sara C. Soto-De Leon,Ricardo Sánchez,Marina Muñoz,Erika Vega,Magda Beltran,Antonio Perez-Prados,Manuel E. Patarroyo,Manuel A. Patarroyo +8 more
TL;DR: It was found that using a single primer set led to underestimating the prevalence for HPV infection and the simultaneous use of these primer sets is an important tool for the detection of HPV DNA, being equally relevant for identifying multiple infections and low viral DNA copies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The DNA load of six high-risk human papillomavirus types and its association with cervical lesions
Luisa Del Río-Ospina,Sara C. Soto-De Leon,Milena Camargo,Darwin A. Moreno-Pérez,Ricardo Sánchez,Antonio Perez-Prados,Manuel E. Patarroyo,Manuel A. Patarroyo +7 more
TL;DR: An association between HPV DNA load and CIN frequency was seen to be type-specific and may have depended on the duration of infection.
