A method for coating a substrate, preferably of glass, with a pyrolyzed transparent, electroconductive layer. The coating is comprised of indium formate, optionally mixed with a powdered or gaseous tin compound or a gaseous organotin compound. The coating layer is deposited upon a hot substrate whereupon it pyrolytically decomposes, forming a layer which is subsequently heat treated in a reducing or an oxidizing atmosphere to optionally enhance the low emissivity and low resistivity of the coating or reduce said low emissivity and low resistivity properties.

Method for coating a substrate with an electrically conductive layer

Low-power lamps, that is, lamps having a power rating of less than 250 W, g. less than 100 W, and, for instance 40 W, have an arc tube which has a fill of mercury with additives of metal halides and a noble gas. To permit universal mounting application of the lamp, the arc tube (2) has a single-press seal (3) at one side thereof in which the electrodes are retained, the arc tube being surrounded by an envelope having, likewise, a single-ended, single-press seal (5) located at the same side as the press seal of the arc tube, through which continuation elements (8, 10, 12, 14; 9, 11, 13, 15) of the electrode elements are conducted. The arc tube and the envelope are so closely spaced that heat radiated from the arc tube to the envelope is effectively reflected to the arc tube without substantial radiation by the envelope. The arc tube and/or the envelope may be frosted, and made, respectively, of hard glass or quartz glass which has low transmissivity in the UV and IR ranges of radiation.

Low-power high-pressure discharge lamp

A film consisting of a fine powder of zinc oxide and titanium oxide and an organic or inorganic binder is formed on the outer surface of a light source. The fine powder serves as an absorbent for ultraviolet radiation emitted from the light source. The film is formed on the outer surface by applying a coating agent prepared by dispersing the above components in an organic solvent on the outer surface of the light source and heating and drying the coating agent.

The present invention relates to a method for making a transparent conductive film, wherein a material for the film containing an organic indium compound and an organic tin compound is applied on a substrate, and made to thermally decompose, and thereafter, a heat treatment of the material is carried out in an atmosphere containing water vapor, thereby obtaining the transparent conductive film which shows low and stable electric resistance and is excellent in water resistance and chemical resistance, and is without undesirable cloudiness.

Method for making transparent conductive films

A layer of zinc oxide disposed on the surface of a substrate in thicknesses of between 500 and 10,000 Angstroms is characterized by a sharp absorption edge to substantially absorb selected wavelengths of radiation incident thereon while transmitting other selected wavelengths. The wavelength of the absorption edge is selectable as a function of temperature. A method of depositing the zinc oxide layer is also described.

Optical coating with selectable transmittance characteristics and method of making the same

An arc discharge lamp has a clear glass envelope on the inner surface of which is disposed a thin, continuous film of indium oxide. The film transmits visible light but absorbs ultraviolet radiation. A phosphor coating may be disposed on the indium oxide film. In order to form the film, a solution of an indium salt of a pre-selected organic acid is applied to the glass, dried under controlled conditions and heated to a predetermined temperature to convert the indium salt to indium oxide.
