Apparatus for mapping an object includes an illumination assembly, which includes a single transparency containing a fixed pattern of spots. A light source transilluminates the single transparency with optical radiation so as to project the pattern onto the object. An image capture assembly captures an image of the pattern that is projected onto the object using the single transparency. A processor processes the image captured by the image capture assembly so as to reconstruct a three-dimensional (3D) map of the object.

Method and system for object reconstruction

A method of combining data from multiple sensors is disclosed. The method includes receiving lines of image data at an image processor having an input for a single camera. Each line of the image data includes first line data from a first image captured by a first camera and second line data from a second image captured by a second camera. The method also includes generating an output frame having a first section corresponding to line data of the first image and having a second section corresponding to line data of the second image. The first section and the second section are configured to be used to generate a three-dimensional (3D) image format or a 3D video format.

Combining data from multiple image sensors

A method for mapping includes projecting onto an object a pattern of multiple spots having respective positions and shapes, such that the positions of the spots in the pattern are uncorrelated, while the shapes share a common characteristic. An image of the spots on the object is captured and processed so as to derive a three-dimensional (3D) map of the object.

Depth-varying light fields for three dimensional sensing

A device for processing data includes a first input port for receiving color image data from a first image sensor and a second input port for receiving depth-related image data from a second image sensor. Processing circuitry generates a depth map using the depth-related image data. At least one output port conveys the depth map and the color image data to a host computer.

Integrated processor for 3D mapping

A pair of CMOS image sensors is provided. One of the pair of CMOS image sensors is assigned as a master CMOS image sensor and the other is assigned as a slave CMOS image sensor. The slave CMOS image sensor is synchronized to the master CMOS image sensor during image data acquisition. In one embodiment, the master CMOS image sensor and the slave CMOS image sensor are connected to receive a control signal, which assigns the master CMOS image sensor as master and the slave CMOS image sensor as slave. In another embodiment, the master CMOS image sensor and slave CMOS image sensor are hardwired to assign the master and slave. In yet another embodiment, the data signals from the master CMOS image sensor and slave CMOS image sensor are interleaved.

CMOS stereo imaging system & method

An image processing system subtracts dark noise out of images based on a dark noise scale factor. The image processing system includes an image sensor for capturing a current image and producing current image data representing the current image. The current image data includes both a dark noise signal and an image signal. The dark noise scale factor for the current image is estimated from the current image data and reference image data representing a reference dark noise signal. The reference dark noise signal is scaled by the dark noise scale factor to produce a scaled dark noise signal from which the current image data is subtracted to produce the image signal.

After image capture, scene parameters are analyzed, e.g. lux, flicker, or world estimation. A best guess illuminant for the scene parameters is determined. At this point, the white balancing coefficients corresponding to that illuminant may be applied.
