Background: The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia was 25,80% in 2013 found in people aged above 18 years old One of the risk factors is obesity Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the demographical characteristic and central obesity with the risk of hypertension in the health center of Sidoarjo Methods: This analytical observational study design was cross sectional There were 50 respondents selected through accidental sampling The independent variables of this study were respondents’ characteristic and central obesity status However, the dependent variable was hypertension Overall, respondents were divided into two groups based on sex (female and male) and age (> 59 years old and ≤ 59 years old) Data were analyzed with chi-square statistical analysis Results: Respondents with central obesity had a higher risk to get hypertension, with majority male respondents aged above 59 years old Conclusion: There was a correlation between age and hypertension (p = 0,01), sex and hypertension (p = 0,04), also between central obesity status and hypertension (p = 0,01)

The Relationship between Demographical Characteristic and Central Obesity with Hypertension

Hypertension is one of non-communicable diseases which prevalence is high in Indonesia, not only among adult and elderly but also among adolescent. Hypertension can be caused by various factors including fat intake, fi ber intake and nutritional status. The purpose of this study was analyze the correlation of fat intake, fi ber intake, and obesity with hypertension among female students at Vocational high school, Bekasi, Indonesia. This was a cross sectional study among 255 female students who were selected by purposive sampling technique. Hypertension was measured using sphygmomanometer with 95 percentile cut-off based on sex, age, and body height (cut-off hypertension was > 104-115 mmHg systolic and > 62-68 mmHg diastolic blood pressure). Fat and fi ber intake were assessed using Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), and obesity was measured using digital weighing scales and microtoise. Data were analyzed by chi square test. The results showed that prevalence of female students with low f fat intake was 58,8%; low fi ber intake was 82,0%; obesity was 25,1%; and hypertension was 16,5%. There was a positive correlation between fat intake (p=0,011) and obesity (p<0,01) with hypertension but no correlation was found between fi ber intake (p=0,916) and hypertension. Fat intake and obesity were related to the hypertension in adolescents. Routine blood pressure checks and restrictions on fat intake are needed to reduce the risk of hypertension in adolescents.

Background: Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease that can lead to death; it is a condition that is related to age, nutritional status and smoking habit The likelihood of a person being overweight or obese increases every year, and there are still many people who have a smoking habit Purpose : This study aims to analyze the effect of age, smoking habit and nutritional status on incidences of hypertension in East Java Province Methods : This was an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional design and employing secondary data derived from the 5 th Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) Data collection was carried out among all household members in East Java who were still at a productive age (15–64 years) making a total of 3,803 respondents The variables observed were age, gender, nutritional status, smoking habit, physical activity, and consumption of high-fat foods The data analysis used the chi-squared test and logistic regression Results : The findings of this study show that there is a relationship between age and nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension However, there was no significant relationship between smoking habit and the incidence of hypertension Elderly respondents were shown to have 12 times the risk of developing hypertension than teenage respondents Conclusion: Age is the dominant factor causing hypertension in East Java Province Adults and the elderly in East Java Province are expected to maintain a healthy lifestyle

Berdasarkan data Riskesdas (2013) prevalensi hipertensi di Indonesia pada umur ≥18 tahun sebesar 25,8%. Jawa Barat termasuk provinsi lima terbesar yang memiliki prevalensi hipertensi tertinggi sebesar 29,4%. Berdasarkan data dari Dinas Kesehatan Kota Depok (2016) hipertensi merupakan penyakit yang banyak dialami oleh masyarakat Kota Depok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara asupan zat gizi makro, aktivitas fisik dan tingkat stress dengan kejadian hipertensi di Wilayah Kota Depok. Desain penelitian cross sectional study. Sampel penelitian 80 orang dengan pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling. Asupan zat gizi makro diperoleh dari wawancara food recall 1x24 jam, aktivitas fisik dari pengisian International Physical Activity Questionnare (IPAQ) dan tingkat sress dari pengisian kuesioner Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). Uji korelasi menggunakan spearman ordinal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara asupan karbohidrat dengan kejadian hipertensi. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara asupan protein dan lemak, aktivitas fisik, tingkat stress dengan kejadian hipertensi. Semakin tua umur seseorang, maka semakin berisiko untuk menderita hipertensi.

Asupan Zat Gizi Makro, Aktivitas Fisik dan Tingkat Stress dengan Kejadian Hipertensi pada Dewasa (18-60 Tahun)

Hipertensi atau lebih dikenal dengan peningkatan tekanan darah diatas normal merupakan silent killer bagi masyarakat di dunia termasuk di Indonesia. Hal ini dikarenakan hipertensi yang dialami oleh seseorang tidak akan memunculkan tanda dan gejala sebelum hipertensi berada dalam kondisi gawat. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya hipertensi adalah peningkatan lingkar perut diatas batas normal (laki-laki < 90 cm, dan perempuan < 80 cm). Penderita obesitas dapat mengalami aterosklerosis yang merupakan suatu keadaan pembuluh darah dinding arteri sedang dan besar menjadi kaku dan menebal sebagai akibat lesi lemak (plak ateromatosa) pada permukaan dalam dinding arteri. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk melakukan edukasi pada masyarakat usia produktif terkait kondisi lingkar perut sebagai faktor risiko hipertensi. Masyarakat sasaran kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah masyarakat usia produktif di Dusun Ngagrok Desa Simongagrok Kecamatan Dawarblandong Kabupaten Mojokerto. Bentuk pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah transfer ilmu pengetahuan tentang kondisi lingkar perut sebagai faktor risiko hipertensi. Materi disampaikan menggunakan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab. Dari hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang telah dilakukan didapatkan data bahwa sebagian besar peserta kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat memiliki kondisi lingkar perut dalam kategori beresiko (> 90 cm untuk laki-laki dan > 80 cm untuk perempuan) yaitu sebanyak 24 peserta (63,16%) dan dari hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan di Dusun Ngagrok Desa Simongagrok Kecamatan Dawarblandong Kabupaten Mojokerto didapatkan hampir separuh peserta kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat memiliki kondisi tekanan darah dalam kategori normal tinggi yaitu sebanyak 18 peserta (47,37%)

Edukasi pada masyarakat usia produktif terkait kondisi lingkar perut sebagai faktor risiko hipertensi

In the epidemiological transition, death due to degenerative disease is higher than infectious disease. One of degenerative disease is  hypertension. Some modiﬁ able risk factors of  hypertension are  obesity and  nutrient intake. Many studies showed that o besity, especially central o besity can lead h ypertension. Dietary factors related high fat intake and imbalance calcium magnesium intake ratio also can lead  hypertension. The aims of this study was to determine the relationship between waist circumference, fat intake, and calcium magnesium intake ratio with  hypertension. The subject in this case control study was selected by simple random sampling in 27 hypertensive patients and 27 non hypertensive patients, then they were measured blood pressure and  anthropometry, daily intake recalled, and interviewed. Chi Square test showed that waist circumference (p=0.000) and fat intake (p=0.024) had a signiﬁ cant relationship with h ypertension, while the calcium magnesium intake ratio (p=0.573) had no signiﬁ cant relationship with  hypertension. The logistic regression showed that waist circumference had the most signiﬁ cant relationship with h ypertension (p=0.012; OR=9.508). In this study, there was a relationship between  waist circumference (central o besity) and fat intake above recommended daily intake with h ypertension, while  calcium magnesium intake ratio had no signiﬁ cant relationship with h ypertension. People with central o besity had a 9.508 risk to be hypertensive person than people with normal waist circumference.
