By doping an organic compound functioning as an electron donor (hereinafter referred to as donor molecules) into an organic compound layer contacting a cathode, donor levels can be formed between respective LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) levels between the cathode and the organic compound layer, and therefore electrons can be injected from the cathode, and transmission of the injected electrons can be performed with good efficiency. Further, there are no problems such as excessive energy loss, deterioration of the organic compound layer itself, and the like accompanying electron movement, and therefore an increase in the electron injecting characteristics and a decrease in the driver voltage can both be achieved without depending on the work function of the cathode material.

Light Emitting Device

In various embodiments of the invention, a unique construction for Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) with at least one luminescent rod and extracting optical elements used to generate a variety of high brightness light sources with different emission spectra. In an embodiment of the invention, forced air cooling is used to cool the luminescent rod. In an embodiment of the invention, totally internal reflected light can be redirected outward and refocused. In another embodiment of the invention, light emitted by the luminescent rod is out-coupled for use in a variety of applications.

Light emitting diode illumination system

In a touch display device, a controller generates a touch sync signal for controlling timing of a touch sensing period and a display period in each of a plurality of frames. A touch panel has a plurality of touch electrodes in a display area to generate touch sensing signals indicating whether or not a touch occurs during the touch sensing period. A touch sensing circuit supplies a touch drive signal to the plurality of touch electrodes during the touch sensing period and detects if the touch occurred based on the touch sensing signals received from the plurality of touch electrodes. A touch assistance line surrounds the display area and is disposed in the non-display area of the touch panel. A touch assistance signal supply circuit generates a touch assistance signal on the touch assistance line. The touch assistance signal mimics the touch drive signal during the touch sensing period.

Display device and driving method thereof

An LED light source for LCD backlighting is described that recalibrates itself over time so that color and brightness uniformity across the backlight is maintained over the life of the backlight. The backlight contains clusters of red, green, and blue LEDs, each cluster generating a white point. In one embodiment, each color in a cluster has its own controllable driver so that the brightness of each color is a cluster is separately controllable. One or more optical sensors are arranged in the backlight, and the sensor signals are detected by processing circuitry to sense the light output of any LEDs that are energized in a single cluster. The measured white point and flux are compared to a stored target white point value and flux for that cluster. The currents to the RGB LEDs are then automatically adjusted to achieve the target level for each cluster. This process is applied to each cluster in sequence until the recalibration is complete. The recalibration takes place at various times over the lifetime of the backlight to offset the effects of LED degradation over time. Variations of this technique are also described.

A direct-firing backlight for a display is designed with a plurality of light emitting regions. Each of a plurality of light sensors is positioned to sense light produced by a corresponding one of the light emitting regions. A control system is operatively associated with the light sensors and light emitting regions. The control system receives information from the light sensors and, in response thereto, regulates light emitted from regions of a display. The regions of the display correspond to the light emitting regions of the direct-firing backlight. Various configurations of such a direct-firing backlight, and related methods, are also disclosed.

The apparatus includes a light-to-frequency converter that converts light received from the light source into a signal having a corresponding frequency. In one embodiment, a method for resetting and reenumerating a USB device involves detecting a USB reset command from a host device at a USB device, setting a reset flag in the USB device in response to the detecting of the USB reset command, determining if the USB device is in a corrupted state in response to the reset flag, and causing a Single Ended Zero (SE0) signal to be issued to reset the USB device out of the corrupted state and reenumerate the USB device back to the host device if the USB device is determined to be in the corrupted state. A light source that generates light that is perceived to have a predetermined color is disclosed. The light source includes first and second red LEDs and a non-red light emitter. The first and second red LEDs emit light in the red portion of the spectrum but at different wavelengths. The non-red light emitter emits light at a wavelength in a non-red portion of the spectrum. A controller varies the intensity of the first and second red LEDs to provide a combined light signal that is perceived as having the predetermined color. In one embodiment, the non-red light emitter includes a fluorescent light, and the controller adjusts the intensities of the red LEDs to provide a source that is perceived as an incandescent source of a predetermined color temperature.
