A repeater and associated method of use includes at least one antenna element for communicating in one direction and at least one antenna element for communicating in another direction. A radio frequency uplink path and a radio frequency downlink path are coupled between the antennas. At least one of the radio frequency uplink path or the radio frequency downlink path includes an adaptive cancellation circuit. The adaptive cancellation circuit is configured to generate a cancellation signal without requiring an injected signal. The cancellation signal, when added to a radio frequency signal in the respective uplink and downlink paths, substantially reduces feedback signals present in the radio frequency signal.

Described herein are power receptacle wireless access point (AP) devices that may be used as part of a networked (smart) living and work space. These power receptacle wireless AP devices may be wall-mounted and/or retrofitted over existing electrical outlets or light switches, for providing wireless access to a room or region of a room. The power receptacle wireless AP device may connect via power line communication to a data connection.

Conformal antennas and methods for radiating radio frequency energy using conformal antennas are provided. In particular, one or more tapered feeds can be provided as part of or interconnected to a conductive top plate. The one or more tapered feeds have a depth that decreases from a feed point to a tip. The tip of the one or more tapered feeds is adjacent a cavity formed over a lens region. An aperture over the lens region can be covered or filled by an impedance surface. This impedance surface may comprise a frequency selective surface. Alternatively, a frequency selective surface can be provided over the lens region of an antenna incorporating one or more stripline feeds.

Conformal wide band surface wave radiating element

An impedance matching circuit includes a conductor line having an input port and an output port, a ground conductor, a tunable dielectric material positioned between a first section of the conductor line and the ground conductor, a non-tunable dielectric material positioned between a second section of the conductor line and the ground conductor, and means for applying a DC voltage between the conductor line and the ground conductor. The impedance matching circuit may alternatively include a first planar ground conductor, a second planar ground conductor, a strip conductor having an input port and an output port, and positioned between the first and second planar ground conductors to define first and second gaps, the first gap being positioned between the strip conductor and the first planar ground conductor and the second gap being positioned between the strip conductor and the second planar ground conductor. A non-tunable dielectric material supports the first and second planar ground conductors and the strip conductor in the same plane. A connection is provided for applying a DC voltage between the strip conductor and the first and second planar ground conductors. A plurality of tunable dielectric layer sections are positioned between the strip conductor and the first and second planar ground conductors so as to bridge the gaps between the said first and second planar ground conductors and the strip conductor at a plurality of locations, leaving non-bridged sections in between, defining a plurality of alternating bridged and non-bridged co-planar waveguide sections.

Tunable microwave devices with auto-adjusting matching circuit

Adaptively tunable antennas incorporating an external probe to monitor radiated power

An antenna is formed from a single sheet of generally planar metal that is cut to provide four geometric antenna shapes that comprise a ground plane element (15), a two-section shorting element that is defined by two generally parallel fold lines (16, 17), a radiating element (14), and an arm (18) that has one end fixed to a generally central portion of the radiating element and has a free end that extends toward a fold line. Folding the metal sheet on the two fold lines positions the radiating element above the ground plane element. A transmit/receive coaxial cable (30) is aligned with a gap (115) that is formed between the two sections of the shorting element. The cable's outer metal sheath (32) is connected to a metal tab (48), and the metal tab is secured to a surface of the ground plane element. The cable's center conductor (31) is secured to a surface of the radiating element. A radome and its mounting tab complete the antenna assembly.

Wide band antenna having unitary radiator/ground plane

A small size, flat panel, 1/6th wavelength antenna is provided. A flat copper-clad dielectric substrate (18) is processed on a first flat side to produce a copper triangular or pseudo triangular-shaped radiating element (16) having a linear copper feed line that extends from the triangle apex. The substrate (18) is also processed on its opposite flat side to produce a rectangular-shaped first copper ground plane element (13) that underlies at least a portion of the copper feed line (21), but does not underlie the copper radiating element (16). The first side of the substrate (18) may also be processed to produce a second copper ground plane element (14) that is out of physical engagement with both the copper feed line and the copper radiating element. The antenna ground plane element(s) may also function as the ground plane for another antenna, such as a GPS antenna.

Flat panel antenna

A Radio Frequency (RF) microstrip antenna employs a planar or curved radiator element (302) that is mounted or supported in spaced relation to a planar or curved ground plane element (304). An RF feed is attached near one edge of the radiator element for receiving and/or transmitting RF signals in a lobe that is substantially perpendicular to the ground plane element. The radiator element and the ground plane element are maintained in a converging, inclined or tilted physical relationship. When a coaxial cable (303) is employed as the antenna feed, the cable's outer insulating is secured to the ground plane element, the cable's center conductor extends away from the ground plane element to provide signal feed to the radiator element and to provide physical support for one edge of the radiator element, and two insulator posts (325, 326) extend away from the ground plane element to provide support for the opposite edge of the radiator element. A two-piece, snap-together, radome (301) is provided, wherein a bottom half (300) nonmovably supports the feed line and ground element and adjustably supports the inclined radiating element, wherein a top half (305) snap-fits to the bottom half, and wherein the top half includes internal extending tabs that engage edge portions of the ground plane member.

Microstrip wide band antenna and radome

Microstrip wide band antenna

A transmit/receive antenna selectively operates to transmit or receive at one or more of a plurality of different frequencies in the MHz range. A planar transmission line diplexer or multiplexer that is selected from the group microstrip multiplexer diplexer/multiplexer and stripline diplexer/multiplexer connects an input/output port to a plurality of antenna ports that are physically spaced from each other and from the input/output port. One antenna element is connected to each of the antenna ports. The transmission line diplexer/multiplexer includes a plurality of individual microstrip/stripline elements that have a characteristic impedance and a length that are selected such that the transmission line diplexer/multiplexer automatically provides a matched impedance path between a given antenna element and the input/output port when an antenna-matching frequency is received by the given antenna element or when the antenna matching frequency is applied to the input/output port. At the same time, the transmission line diplexer/multiplexer automatically provides a very mismatched impedance path between all others of the antenna elements and the input/output port.
