The invention provides electroluminescent lamps that contain light-emitting phosphors and covering layers which have unusual durability, light transmissivity and resistance to moisture using simple screen printing and doctor blade coating techniques. It is discovered that a liquid dispersion of thermoplastic polymer powder particles, e.g. predominantly of polyvinylidene fluoride, simultaneously: (a) can suspend electrical property additives, such as crystalline, hard, dense particles of generally spherical shape, uniformly in desired concentrations (b) while containing a useful concentration of any of a wide range of such particles, can be deposited by high shear transfer to a substrate in accurately controllable thickness and contour; (c) when so deposited can be fused into a continuous uniform film which has low absorptivity, e.g. of moisture and acts as a barrier film; (d) can, as one layer, be fused with other such layers, containing other electrical property additives, to form a monolithic electrical component; and, (e) in general, can meet all requirements for the making of electroluminescent lamps.

Electroluminescent lamp having a polymer phosphor layer formed in substantially a non-crossed linked state

In an electroluminescent lamp having a phosphor layer disposed between corresponding lamp electrodes adapted to apply an excitation potential to cause the phosphor layer to emit light, a front lamp electrode which, in addition to being light transmissive to radiation from the phosphor layer, consists of a thin layer of light-transmissive binder containing a distribution of discrete particles that are characteristically light-reflective and electrically conductive. The electrode particles provide aggregate diffuse outward reflectance sufficient to serve as a reflector behind an LCD display for ambient light that falls upon the LCD display to illuminate the display under light ambient conditions. Furthermore, the particles in the electrode layer are adapted to contribute to electrical continuity through the layer sufficient to apply excitation to the phosphor layer, and the electrode layer particles have sufficient spaces between them to provide escape-paths for light from the excited phosphor layer to back-illuminate the LCD display under dark ambient conditions. A method of forming the improved electrode, e.g. by shear transfer techniques, is also described. Certain aspects of the invention apply to the function of improved transflective layers, per se.

Backlighting for electro-optical passive displays and transflective layer useful therewith

Electrical circuits and components

PURPOSE:To easily detect the arrival of a call to a terminal equipment even from a noisy location or a location remote from the terminal equipment by allowing the incoming call detector to send a remote signal in a radio channel when the incoming call comes to the terminal equipment and allowing an incoming call display device receiving the signal to light its light emitting section. CONSTITUTION:An incoming call detector 1 is connected to an idle modular jack MJ to which a telephone set T is connected. On the other hand, an incoming call display device 3 is arranged so as to receive a radio wave sent by the detector 1. When an incoming call signal comes to the telephone set T, the detector 1 detects the incoming call signal and allows its transmission antenna 2 to send a radio wave. The incoming call display device 3 receives the radio wave by its reception antenna 4 and lights its light emitting section 5.

OF THE DISCLOSURE A new capacitor construction such as a tantalum capacitor which is capable of sustained operation at high temperatures and which possesses significantly improved solderability and electrical properties. In one particular aspect there is disclosed in a solid capacitor for providing electrical capacitance due to a dielectric component in the capacitor, the improved construction including an anode, a cathode, and at least one coating composition applied in the construction between the anode and the cathode, the coating composition being comprised of a fluoroelastomer for providing the coating with thermal stability to temperatures of about 400-700°F., and a conductive pigment for providing conductivity to the coating, wherein the conductive pigment is made substantially of a finely particulated material selected from at least one of the group consisting of noble metals, silver, copper, and alloys thereof.
