The interactive authentication system allows a consumer to interact with a base station, such as broadcast media (e.g., television and radio) or PC, to receive coupons, special sales offers, and other information with an electronic card. The electronic card can also be used to transmit a signal that can be received by the base station to perform a wide variety of tasks. These tasks can include launching an application, authenticating a user at a website, and completing a sales transaction at a website (e.g., by filling out a form automatically). The interaction between the base station and the electronic card is accomplished by using the conventional sound system in the base station so that a special reader hardware need not be installed to interact with the electronic card. The user is equipped with an electronic card that can receive and transmit data via sound waves. In the various embodiments, the sound waves can be audible or ultrasonic (which can be slightly audible to some groups of people).

Physical presence digital authentication system

A power supply system capable of supplying power from a power transmitter to a power receiver in an electrically non-contact manner, in which a power transmission module is attached to the power transmitter and a power reception module is attached to the power receiver. The power transmission module has a plurality of transmission-side coils for transmitting power and a plurality of transmission-side switches for turning on/off operation of the transmission-side coils. The power reception module has a plurality of reception-side coils for receiving power, a plurality of reception-side switches for turning on/off operation of the reception-side coils and, further, has a determination circuit for performing control so as to operate any of the transmission-side coils and any of the reception-side coils in a combination realizing highest power transmission efficiency.

Non-contact power supply system

A transmitter for transmitting power to a receiver to power a load, where the receiver does not have a DC-DC converter. The transmitter comprises a pulse generator for producing pulses of power. The transmitter comprises an antenna in communication with the pulse generator through which the pulses are transmitted from the transmitter. A system for power transmission which transmits only pulses of power without any data. A method for transmitting power to a receiver to power a load. An apparatus for transmitting power to a receiver to power a load comprises a plurality of transmitters, each of which produce pulses of power which are received by the receiver to power the load. A system for power transmission which receives pulses of power transmitted by the power transmitter to power a load but does not use the pulses as a clock signal.

Method, apparatus and system for power transmission

A short range inductively coupled wireless communication system employs analog frequency modulation of a high frequency carrier and magnetic coupling between a transmitting antenna and a receiving antenna. A transmitter coupled to the transmitting antenna modulates multiple high-fidelity analog audio signals and digital control messages onto separate high frequency (“HF”) carriers. The electric field portion of the transmitted electromagnetic field is substantially eliminated during transmission, while the magnetic field portion is substantially unaffected. The receiving antenna is coupled to a demodulator which reproduces the audio frequency signals and decodes control messages sent by the transmitter.

Inductively coupled wireless system and method

A trailer communications system (36) is provided. The system (36) includes a trailer transducer unit (22) for location on a trailer (12). A vehicle transducer unit (24) can be located on a vehicle (26, 28, 30) or a stationary object (32). The trailer transducer unit (22) and the vehicle transducer unit (24) may communicate information in the form of acoustic signals broadcast at an ultrasonic frequency in response to a predetermined event.

Trailer communications system

A cordless headset (400), requiring very low power using Time Variant Modulation (TVM) for reception of a magnetic signal and TVM of RF or infraded as the transmitter. The headset (400) area or zone of operations is defined by the magnetic field that the headset (400) operates within and uses a handshake protocol that takes advantage of the TVM fixed clock period. The headset (400) communicates with a base station (300) that includes a TVM transmitter (304) and loop for transmitting a TVM signal to the cordless headset (400), and an RF or infrared receiver (310) capable of receiving TVM signals from the headset (400). The base station (300) also contains the headset protocol logic for controlling the headset (400) transmission. The headset (400) and base station (300) receiver can both be fixed, mobile or portable and vary with respect to orientation and distance from each other. The receiver circuits (310, 404) in both base station (300) and headset (400) automatically adjust to the variance in signal strength.

Very low power cordless headset system

A cordless headset, requiring very low power using Time Variant Modulation (TVM) for reception of a magnetic signal and TVM of RF or infrared as the transmitter. The headset area or zone of operations is defined by the magnetic field that the headset operates within and uses a handshake protocol that takes advantage of the TVM fixed clock period. The receiver circuits in both base station and headset automatically adjust to the variance in signal strength.

Low power wireless communication system employing magnetic control zones

A short range magnetically coupled wireless communication system (fig. 1) employs time variant modulation of a high repetition rate pulse stream and magnetic coupling between a transmission magnetic element and a receiving magnetic element (16). The pulse stream is modulated by an input audio frequency signal in the time domain, for example through pulse position modulation (2A), pulse width modulation or pulse symmetry modulation (2B). The receiving magnetic element is coupled to a demodulator circuit which detects the transmitted pulses induced in the receiving magnetic element and reproduces the audio frequency signal (fig. 6). Transmission over short range is thus efficiently accomplished through magnetic coupling in a simple low cost low power consumption communication system.
