A process by which a high-purity 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone monoether can be industrially advantageously obtained. The process, which is for producing a compound represented by the formula (I) (I) (wherein R?1 and R2? each independently represents halogeno, C?1-8? alkyl, or C2-8 alkenyl; m and n each independently is an integer of 0 to 4; and R?3? represents C?1-8? alkyl, C2-8 alkenyl, C3-8 cycloalkyl, or optionally substituted aralkyl), comprises (1) conducting pH adjustment two or more times in a purification step, (2) removing the alkyl halide used in excess, (3) using a solvent, e.g., water, having an iron content of 0.05 ppm or lower, (4) using a vessel coated inside with a corrosion-resistant layer, (6) adding a chelating agent, and (7) using a means for drying with mechanical stirring.

Process for producing diphenyl sulfone compound

A method of making a ferric oxide burning rate catalyst that results in a highly active, finely divided burning rate enhancing catalyst. An iron-containing compound that is capable of vaporization at a temperature below about 500° C. is vaporized. A mixture comprising the vaporized iron-containing compound is combusted with a gas that is capable of supporting combustion in an oxygen environment and does not condense below about 100° C. The ferric oxide burning rate catalyst made by this process is particulary adapted for use in a composite solid rocket propellant. This process provides an ultra pure, highly active, finely divided burning rate catalyst.

Iron oxide catalyst propellant, and method for making same

High activity steam reforming iron oxide catalysts are described. Such catalysts can be unsupported utilizing at least 90% by weight iron oxide and various modifiers (Al2 O3, K2 O, CaO, SiO2) or unmodified and supported on such things as alumina, CaO impregnated alumina, and lanthanum stabilized alumina. When used in steam reformers such as autothermal and tubular steam reformers, these catalysts demonstrate much improved resistance to carbon plugging.

Iron oxide catalyst for steam reforming

A highly active, finely divided ferric oxide burning rate catalyst and method for making the same. The catalyst is made by vaporizing an iron-containing compound that is capable of vaporization at a temperature below about 500° C., and is capable of forming ferric oxide when reacted with an oxygen-containing atmosphere at temperatures below about 500° C. The iron-containing compound is then oxidized in an oxygen-containing atmosphere. The ferric oxide burning rate catalyst made by this process is particularly adapted for use in a composite solid rocket propellant. This process provides an ultra pure, highly active, finely divided burning rate catalyst.
