Control apparatus and method including a first control device, located at the vehicle or premises, for monitoring or detecting an event, which generates and/or transmits a first notification signal containing event information to a second control device located remote from the vehicle or premises. The second control device generates and/or transmits a second notification signal to a remote communication device for providing notification of the event occurrence. Control apparatus and method including a first control device, located at a vehicle or premises, which generates and/or transmits a first signal for activating, deactivating, enabling, or disabling, a vehicle or a premises system, equipment system, subsystem, device, component, appliance, a vehicle, or a premises, in response to a signal generated and/or transmitted from a remote second control device. The second control device is responsive to a third signal generated and/or transmitted by a remote third control device.

Control, monitoring and/or security apparatus and method

A secure entry system (10, 44, 50, 60) makes use of radio transmissions to communicate with locks (12, 12'), keys (46), and related components throughout the system. The radio transmissions can be made using a paging system, a cellular telephone system (52, 54), or any other RF carrier (26). Some embodiments (50) employ a cellular telephone (52) in lieu of an electronic key (46). Others integrate a paging receiver (14) within an electronic key to provide a unit with dual functionality. The system is illustrated with reference to exemplary applications in the industrial site security, real estate lockbox, and transportation fields (60).

Secure entry system with radio communication.

A system for integrating security and access for facilities and information systems is provided including a computer server, information systems, and facility protection systems. The information systems and facility protection systems are coupled for communication to the computer server via a network. Facility protection systems represent an access control system for controlling entry/exit to areas of buildings, such as with badges or other ID Credentials and other systems, such as intrusion detection and fire systems, to provide protection in facility environments. Information systems each represent a computer system requiring user authorization, via computers or terminals capable of connecting thereto, to access information resources or network environments protected by the computer system. Information systems may also include information protection systems requiring user authorization for external access to other information systems. The computer server has a central database which stores at least information defining users and their access privileges to the information systems and to areas of facilities controlled by access control system. Each of the information systems and facility protection systems sends event data to the computer server when an event occurs on its respective system, and an event transaction processor in the computer server determines action(s), if any, to take in response to one or more received events and accordingly sends action data to other information systems and facility protection systems to instruct such systems to automatically respond to security risks representing by such events in real-time. Central management of users and their access privileges, and monitoring of events is further provided.

System for integrating security and access for facilities and information systems

A security system for a personal computer, in which hardware and software are combined to provide a tamper-proof manner of protecting user-access and file-access. The hardware component of the system is an expansion board for insertion into an expansion slot of the PC, and has a first EPROM chip containing four portions of machine code for initializing system function calls and for establishing the proper boot-processing of the PC; a second RAM chip serving as scratch pad memory; a third EEPROM chip storing passwords, audit trail log, protection and encryption system flags, and user-access rights; a fourth automatic encryption and decryption chip for files of the PC; and a fifth clock chip for the audit trail. The software component includes a batch file that runs a program in conjunction with the machine code on the EPROM of the expansion board ensuring access is gained only for valid users. The code on the EPROM monitors all DOS 21H file handling function calls, and initializes the 7CH interrupt vector for allowing the security system to access DOS and the files thereof. During boot processing, the 10H video interrupt handler is monitored to prevent circumventing the security system. Hard-disc format-protection is also provided by monitoring of the 13H interrupt function calls. Files may also be created that may not be copied.

Security system for microcomputers

A system and method for implementing an integrated information system are provided. A premises server is in communication with a variety of information sources that produce monitoring data for a premises. The premises server collects, presents, and transmits the monitoring device data to a central server capable of processing data from multiple premises servers. The central server receives the data and traverses one or more logical rule sets to determine whether the inputted data violates the rules. Based on an evaluation of the rules, the central server generates outputs in the form of communication to one or more authorized users via a variety of communication mediums and devices and/or the instigation of a variety of acts corresponding to the evaluation of the rules.

System and method for providing configurable security monitoring utilizing an integrated information system

A security system is disclosed which utilizes plural remote terminals for controlling access at plural locations throughout a secured area or building. Each of these remote terminals is capable of independent functioning, and includes a memory for storing plural independent identification numbers which define the personnel who will be granted access. These numbers stored in the terminal memories may be different from terminal to terminal, or may be uniform throughout the system, and may be the same as a list stored at a central processing location. Thus, access may be limited to the same group of individuals regardless of whether it is provided by a central memory list or a remote memory list. The remote memories provide total memory flexibility, so that the deletion of identification numbers from the list does not reduce the memory size. The memory, in addition to identification numbers, stores data defining real time access limitations for each of the individuals who will be granted access, so that flexibility in time of day access control is provided on a programmable basis.

Self-contained programmable terminal for security systems

A security system in which access at remote locations is limited to personnel inserting in the system a coded data card, the data of which compares favorably with data stored in a memory. The memory data comprises a table which permits access to selected terminals by selected personnel at selected times. Programming access to the system for the purpose of altering data in the access authorization table is limited to individuals who insert a supervisor's card into the system, which card enables the logic required for altering the authorization table.
