The dynamic service brake (24) is positioned within a ring gear (4) acting as wheel hub, directly behind a detachable transmission cover (11) on the end side, and on a hollow-cylindrical brake carrier (10), which forms the end of a non-turnable axle (2). The planetary gear (34) is located behind the service brake within the ring gear. The service brake is a multiple disc brake with alternating discs (25,26). A brake piston (28) is actuated by a pressure medium against a pressure spring (30).

Wheel drive with integrated dynamic service brake

A bearing device ( 10 A) for supporting a wheel and equipped brake including a rotary shaft ( 5 ) carrying a rotary plate ( 9 ) suitable for supporting a wheel rim, a stationary hub ( 1 C) disposed around the rotary shaft ( 5 ), a bearing unit comprising at least one rolling bearing ( 8 A, 8 B) supporting the shaft as it rotates relative to the hub, the brake comprising a first series of at least one annular brake disk ( 28 ) secured to the hub ( 1 C) and a second series of at least one annular brake disk ( 30 ) constrained to rotate with the shaft ( 5 ) relative to the hub. The device includes first axial wall element ( 24 ) and a second axial wall element.

Bearing device for supporting a wheel and equipped with braking means

A two-speed press drive is manufactured as a complete assembly eliminating the requirement that the drive be assembled at the location of the press. The two-speed drive includes a stationary quill, an output shaft and a planetary gear set. The planetary gear set includes a first sun gear connected to the stationary quill, a second sun gear rotatably connected to the stationary quill, a planetary gear carrier rotatably connected to the stationary quill and three compound planetary gears rotatably connected to the carrier and meshing with both the first and second sun gears. The input to the two-speed drive is through the planetary gear carrier. A high speed clutch connects the carrier directly to the output shaft for high speed operation. A low speed clutch connects the second sun gear to the output shaft for high speed operation. A housing in conjunction with the carrier define a sealed cavity within which the components of the drive operate.

Two-speed press drive

A brake mechanism includes a fixed housing in which the brake mechanism substantially resides. A plate closes the fixed housing and includes a cylindrical portion extending partially within the fixed housing. A parking piston and a service piston are employed to act against a brake stack which includes a plurality of stators and rotors interleaved together. A wear adjuster is press-fit onto the cylindrical portion of the plate and engages the service piston during actuation of the service piston and compensates for wear of friction material from the rotors or stators such that the distance between the service piston and the brake stack is substantially the same during the life of the brake mechanism. If neither the service piston nor the parking piston engage the brake stack prohibiting rotation of the input drive, the planetary gear set drives the rotating output drive with respect to the fixed housing.

Planetary gearbox with integral service brake

A planetary wheel drive assembly includes a hollow spindle secured to a frame which provides the support for a wheel structure, an outboard planetary gear set and an inboard disc brake mechanism. The planetary gear set has a ring gear connected to the spindle, an input sun gear shaft, and a planet carrier conjointly driving the wheel structure. An inboard end member is removable to allow independent withdrawal of the disc brake mechanism disposed radially within the spindle when the wheel structure and the spindle are removed from the frame, and an outboard end member is releasable from the wheel structure to allow access to the planetary gear set.

Planetary wheel drive assembly

The invention is applicable to a wheel hub of the kind comprising within a hollow body closed by a cover, a reducer having a pinion-carrier, and a brake with a brake disc capable of being subjected to an axial clamping force which is counter-supported by the cover. According to the invention, the pinion-carrier forms a part which is separate both from the hollow body and from the cover and which bears axially on an abutment itself locked axially on the hollow body, thereby itself closing the hollow body transversely immediately before the cover. The result is that in order to unclamp the brake manually, it is simply necessary to act on the cover. The invention is applicable, in particular, to industrial vehicles, agricultural machines, public works machines and load-handling machines.
