A Factorized Power Architecture (“FPA”) method and apparatus includes a front end power regulator (“PRM) which provides one or more controlled DC bus voltages which are distributed through the system and converted to the desired load voltages using one or more DC voltage transformation modules (“VTMs”) at the point of load. VTMs convert the DC bus voltage to the DC voltage required by the load using a fixed transformation ratio K=V out /V in and with a low output resistance. VTMs exhibit high power density, efficiency and, owing to their inherent simplicity and component utilization, reliability. VTMs may be paralleled and share power without dedicated protocol and control interfaces, supporting scalability and fault tolerance. Feedback may be provided from a feedback controller at the point of load to the front end or to upstream, on-board power regulator modules (“PRMs”) to achieve precise regulation.

PURPOSE:To stably heat a filament for a discharge lamp by bringing the center of the winding width of an output winding of an output leakage transformer coincident to the center of the winding width of a filament winding and allowing the voltages produced at both the windings to become in phase. CONSTITUTION:In a leakage transformer 28, input windings 28a, 28b are wound through a bobbin 37 on a core 36, and a base winding 28c and filament windings 28e, 28f are wound partly thereon. The filament windings 28e, 28f are formed in the lowermost and uppermost layers of the output winding 28d in such a manner that the center of the width of the winding coincides approximately with the center of the output winding 28d. According to this construction, since the voltages of the windings 28e, 28f becomes in phase with the voltage of the winding 28d, the heating states of the filaments 28F1, 23F2 become stable, the formation of the filament spot after ignition is rapid, and the progress of blackening of the discharge lamp due to the energization and deenergization of the lamp can be largely improved.

Compact electrical power supply for signal processing applications

A microprocessor controlled digital engine analyzer receives analog input signals from an engine being analyzed, engine parameter data entered via a keyboard, and function data, selecting one of several operating modes for the analyzer and which information is to be displayed, entered via the keyboard, and displays on a CRT screen the selected information such as cylinder firing order, RPM, Dwell, KV and DC volts, alphanumerically, information such as primary and secondary ignition and voltage, alternator and fuel injector information through the use of continuous waveform patterns, and additional information pertaining to Dwell, KV and Cylinder Shorting through the use of bar graphs. The waveform pattern data derived from the analog input signals is stored in a dual bank waveform memory and read out for display on the CRT screen under hardware control, and address data representing alphanumeric data and screen formats for the various operating modes to be displayed is stored in a dual bank display memory for application to a character generator, a bank switching arrangement being used for both the waveform memory and the display memory to enable the banks of each memory to be alternately written to and read from. A main microprocessor receives and processes analog input signals, other than the waveform pattern signals, and a display microprocessor receives numerical data from the main microprocessor and causes display of the numerical data on the CRT screen.

Digital engine analyzer

A plurality of converter circuits A and B are provided. The converter circuits A and B have circuit structures that are identical to each other. In the converter circuit A, a resonant capacitor 31, a resonant inductor 32 and a primary winding 51 of a transformer 5 are connected in series, with the two ends of the serial circuit thus achieved connected between the connecting point of switching elements 11 and 12 and one end of a source 10. The output ends of output rectifier smoothing circuits 7 and 8 are connected commonly. Resonant circuits 3 and 4 of the converter circuits A and B are connected with each other.

Plural parallel resonant switching power supplies

An LC resonant circuit is alternately connected from DC input terminals to a winding on an output transformer via a pair of alternately operating switching transistors which turn on in synchronism with the resonant frequency of the LC circuit. Switching is accomplished when current flow through each transistor is substantially zero. The transistors are kept off for a selected period of time during each cycle of the LC circuit waveform, dependent upon a DC output voltage derived via rectification means from another winding on the output transformer. The frequency of operation of the circuit is responsive to the DC output voltage level for regulating the same.

A feedback amplifier circuit includes a pair of push-pull amplifiers adapted for driving the deflection plates of a cathode ray tube, with each amplifier being provided with a negative feedback circuit including an active amplifying device. As a result of the employment of an amplifying device in each feedback circuit, the conductive loading of output stages is reduced, and therefore the standing current which must be supplied to the amplifier circuit is also reduced.

A waveform measurement and display apparatus comprises a pair of signal-processing channels in addition to a sweep generator arranged so as to provide both Y-T and X-Y display modes. A time marker generator system is provided to insert time markers into the same relative time positions of the respective Y-T and X-Y displays so as to precisely ascertain the time relationship between the two displays. Additionally, such time markers may be inserted into corresponding time positions for expanded and unexpanded waveforms in the Y-T display mode so as to precisely ascertain the relative time position therebetween.

Waveform measurement and display apparatus

A signal coupling circuit suitable for use in a high-speed signal acquisition probe comprises separate high-frequency and low-frequency signal transmission paths from input to output. The low-frequency path includes a mechanism for variably shifting the DC voltage level at the circuit input to offset quiescent or average voltage levels of an input signal. Values of impedance elements for both the high-frequency and low-frequency transmission paths may be selected to provide predetermined input and output impedances without compromising signal fidelity or limiting signal bandwidth.
