Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a tool, the Agile Supply Chain Transformation Matrix (ASCTM), and the implementation methodology for a systematic approach to achieve agility in the supplier‐buyer supply chain.Design/methodology/approach – The conceptual framework for agile capability creation is developed based on literatures in the supply chain management and manufacturing agility field and the ASCTM tool is constructed using the quality function deployment (QFD) and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique. The implementation methodology including the tools to support the implementation of the ASCTM tool are developed based on the QFD/AHP approach and the agility concepts established through the Agility Program at Lehigh University. Investigating virtual enterprise models: literature review and empirical findings

This doctoral thesis analyses the evolution of digital technologies and methods for data management systems applied to the context of extended enterprise. Nowadays, in the aeronautics' product development context, projects are evolving towards large-scale partnerships. A large amount of data created for this product development has then to be processed and managed in a coherent way between the different partners. Indeed, the need of enabling data exchange and integration has evolved from the simple file to the management of an integrated design context. This way, closer integration between data created and managed is identified as a factor to shorten the development cycle. This integration involves as well the integration of the overall data created all along the project as the structure to support processes. This PhD dissertation then presents the study of a centralised architecture to ensure the multi-partnership and multi-view engineering by providing a common referential for data semantic. The use of standards in this study also complies with a high level of interoperability issues in terms of consistency and easy migration of data between engineering systems and activities.

System engineering for collaborative data management systems: Application to design / simulation loops

Under today's volatile business environment, companies are reaching the point where they need to be more agile intelligent, fast, flexible, and responsive to changes. Leveraging supplier-buyer relationship to create an agile supply chain is one of the strategies that can help companies make a successful transition to an agile enterprise. Here we introduce a model that can be used to successfully transform a business: the Agile Supply Chain Transformation Matrix (ASCTM), a tool based on the Quality Function Deployment (QFD), and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). More specifically, we have created a tool that can relate the business changes with the appropriate approaches for supply chain configuration and supplier-buyer relationship establishment and determine the business processes and the infrastructures needed to support agility. This tool is built upon the concepts developed through the Agility Programme at Lehigh University in partnership with company project sponsors and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
