Compounds and uses thereof in modulating amyloid beta

Compounds and compositions are provided for treatment or amelioration of one or more symptoms of α-synuclein toxicity, α-synuclein mediated diseases or diseases in which α-synuclein fibrils are a symptom or cause of the disease.

Inhibition of alpha-synuclein toxicity

An apparatus (60) according to the present invention includes a voltage generator (1) for generating brief voltage pulses for the impression of voltage on electrodes (6, 15, 16, 24) included in the apparatus, and a measurement unit (50) which is coupled to the electrodes. These are designed to be secured at or inserted in tissue in a restricted region of a human or an animal in order therebetween to form electric fields in the tissue. The measurement unit (50) is disposed to determine the impedance between the electrodes which is substantially determined by the electric properties of the tissue which is located between the electrodes. A registration and calculator device (10) forms a control unit which, based on the impedance determined by the measurement unit, controls the output voltage of the voltage generator such that the electric field which is formed in the tissue always has a predetermined value. The treatment with the electric field realizes a perforation of cell membranes in the tissue which thereby permits the passage of substances fed to the body (e.g. cytostatic or genetic material).

An apparatus for controlling the generation of electric fields

An iontophoretic controller (12) is provided. The
controller is electrically connected via two electrical
connectors to a patch consisting of two electrodes (40,65), the two
electrodes are respectively positioned in an active reservoir (68) and
a return reservoir (48) of the patch. A current is applied to the
patch when the iontophoretic controller is turned on or otherwise
activated. A waveform, such as the patch voltage, is measured
over a predetermined time interval. A change in the measured
voltage is compared to a threshold. If the change in measured
voltage exceeds the threshold, the controller takes an action,
such as providing a warning or discontinuing the application of
current.

Method of detecting events or conditions in an iontophoretic drug delivery system

The present disclosure provides antibodies that specifically bind to human glucocorticoid-induced TNFR family related receptor (GITR) and compositions comprising such antibodies. In a specific aspect, the antibodies specifically bind to human GITR and modulate GITR activity, e.g., enhance, activate or induce GITR activity, utilizing such antibodies. The present disclosure also provides methods for treating disorders, such as cancer and infectious diseases, by administering an antibody that specifically binds to human GITR and modulates GITR activity e.g., enhances, activates or induces GITR activity.

Anti-gitr antibodies and methods of use thereof

An iontophoresis system includes a transdermal patch (23) for placement against the skin of a patient and a controller (24, 26) electrically connected to the patch (23). The patch (23) includes an anode and cathode electrode, and holds an electrolyte and a medication. The controller includes a DC-DC converter circuit (24) which generates output voltage that is provided to the anode electrode. The controller also includes an adjustable current regulator circuit (26). The current regulator circuit (26) is coupled to the cathode electrode and is adjustable to provide a desired current flow through the electrodes and the skin of the patient. The DC-DC converter circuit (24) is responsive to the voltage drop across the electrodes and adjusts its ouptut voltage in response to this voltage drop and changes in the impedance of the patient's skin.
