This invention relates to a positive photosensitive resin composition allowing development with an alkaline aqueous solution and excellent in resolution, photosensitivity and pattern form even if the film formed from the resin is thick. Furthermore, this invention relates to a photosensitive resin composition comprising (a) a polymer having one or more phenolic hydroxyl groups, (b) a compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group and containing only one group selected from a methylol group and alkoxymethyl group, and (c) a photo acid generator.

Photosensitive resin composition

An extensible and pasteurizable radiation curable coating for metal and a process for preparing a metal article coated therewith are provided. The composition comprises a bulky acrylate or methacrylate monomer; a specific combination of oligomers; and an organofunctional silane adhesion promoter. Optionally, the composition may comprise one or more additives such as a photoinitiator; a coinitiator; abrasion resistance, slip, and flow-out additives; wetting promoters; and extender resin. The process comprises the steps of applying a coating to one surface of a metal article and curing the coating, wherein the coating is as defined above.

Extensible and pasteurizable radiation curable coating for metal containing organofunctional silane adhesion promoter

A radiation curable coating composition for various substrates contains an adduct of acrylic acid and an epoxy resin (which may be modified with an anhydride, such as maleic anhydride), and a reactive acrylate monomer vehicle. The coating composition can be pigmented and can also contain additives commonly used in coatings, such as wetting agents and flow control agents. The coating composition does not require the usual hydrocarbon vehicles that give rise to air pollution problems. Surface gloss of a UV cured film obtained from a pigmented coating composition can be increased by using a photosensitizer combination of 2-chlorothioxanthone and a phenylketone, such as benzophenone. Adhesion of a cured coating is improved by replacing the tertiary amine co-sensitizer, at least in part, with dimethylaminoethyl acrylate.

Extensible and pasteurizable radiation curable coating for metal

Radiation-curable low molecular weight partial ester copolymer compositions comprising products of a terminally ethylenically unsaturated compound and a maleic anhydride characterized by having free-anhydride functionality are provided. The partial esters are produced by esterification of certain copolymers under anhydrous conditions with a hydroxyalkyl acrylyl compound, or an admixture thereof with a monohydric alcohol. The compositions of the invention are useful as radiation cross-linkable diluents for radiation-hardenable compositions, particularly in improving adhesion promotion and/or dispersive capabilities of binder resins.
