A quick connect coupling is disclosed for use with a tubular conduit having a radially outwardly extending bead adjacent a free end of the tubing. The coupling includes an elongated tubular and cylindrical housing having an axial passageway formed through it which forms a fluid passageway and is open at both ends. One end of the housing has a enlarged diameter internal bore portion adapted to axially receive the free end of the conduit including the conduit bead as the conduit is inserted to a magnet position. A retainer within the internal bore portion of the housing lockingly engages the conduit bead when the conduit is moved to its connected position while fluid seals engage the outer periphery of the conduit. A one way valve is also contained within the housing passageway which permits fluid flow in only one direction through the housing passageway.

Quick connect coupling

A quick connect tube coupling assembly includes a tubular seal member, in the form of a tubular member with an elastomer molded thereon is suitably fixed in the stepped socket bore of a tube receiving socket member, this seal member, in effect, providing the effect of two O-rings, a spacer, retainer and end seal; and a spring retainer is fixed to the socket member whereby this coupling body assembly is adapted to telescopically receive a plug tube having axially spaced apart radial upstanding annular inboard and outboard beads thereon, one of which is adapted to be engaged by the spring retainer. A tubular spring release member is positioned to encircle the tube loosely between the beads whereby the tube can be un-coupled, when desired, by moving this release member axially in a direction toward the inboard bead so as to cause the spring member to flux radially outward of the inboard bead whereby the plug tube can be removed manually from the socket member.

Quick connect tube coupling

A quick connect fluid coupling having a male member and a female member with radially resilient latch fingers for engaging the male coupling member. A locking sleeve having a continuous ring portion and a plurality of circumferentially spaced radially resilient fingers is movable from a position in which the ring portion surrounds the fingers on the female member to radially confine the same, and a release position in which the ring portion is spaced axially from the free ends of the fingers on the female member. Latch means are provided for releasably latching the locking sleeve in its locking position and in its release position.

Quick connect fluid coupling

An actuator including a motor having a rotary output, an actuating arm mounted for reciprocating movement, and a mechanism, interconnecting the output and the arm to convert rotary motion to reciprocating motion. The mechanism includes a rotary element. A brake is provided including a friction plate and first and second reaction plates. A solenoid and spring are operable to move the reaction plate into or out of engagement with the friction plate and cams associated with the rotary element are operable to move the reaction plate into engagement with the friction plate.

Fail safe actuator

A gasket assembly for sealing electromagnetic waves includes a canted-coil spring for blocking the propagation of electromagnetic waves therepast. The canted-coil spring includes a plurality of individual coils canted along a centerline thereof. A groove is provided for supporting the coil spring in a position enabling loading of the coil spring along a selected direction. The groove is provided with a selected surface for causing individual coils to always turn in a selected angular direction in order to control electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of the coil spring.

Gasket assembly for sealing electromagnetic waves

A quick connect coupling for use in a high pressure fluid system includes a plug member in the form of a plug tube with an upset bead thereon that is adapted to be inserted into a socket member, a ring seal being positioned to encircle the pilot plug end of the tube. A split retainer is positioned to encircle the socket member and is provided with opposed sets of abutment surfaces at opposite ends thereof that are adapted to engage against the bead on the plug member and a flange provided on the socket member, respectively, when the plug member is fully inserted into the socket and a rigid locking collar is positioned to encircle the split retainer whereby to bias the split end thereof with its associate abutment surfaces radially inward into positive locking engagement with the flange of the socket member.

Quick connect hydraulic coupling assembly

A self-contained drum brake adjuster mechanism utilises an escapement drive arrangement (90,96) to provide adjustment. A bi-metal spring (78), used in the normal adjustment operation, contracts at higher brake temperatures to prevent over-adjustment of the brake when the brake drum (l2) is expanded excessively due to heat generated by heavy brake applications.

Drum brake adjusters

A drum brake assembly having a parking brake actuating lever is so arranged that the parking brake cable end may be assembled in a blind fashion to the end of the actuating lever. The cable is provided with an enlarged end or button. The cable and spring are inserted through a guide tube and pushed inwardly into the brake assembly with the guide tube or a combination of the guide tube in a separate spring guide placing the cable button in a alignment so that it is aimed at a funnel-like guide and retention member formed on the end of the parking brake actuating lever. Further axial movement of the parking brake cable and its enlarged end result in a camming action which moves the enlarged end upwardly through and beyond the slot after which it snaps back downwardly to be positioned to be able to apply cable tension forces to the parking brake actuating lever. The entire assembly may be made with the brake assembly in the completely assembled condition wherein the drum covers the brake mechanism so that the assembler, operator cannot either see or manipulate that cable end and the connection thereof with the end of the actuating lever. The arrangement also provides for sealing the opening in the drum brake backing plate through which the parking brake cable extends, and permits checking for full connection of the parking brake cable with the actuating lever before such assembly is completed.

A brake pressure proportioner is mounted on a sprung portion of a vehicle and is attached to an unsprung portion by means of a modifying arm. The arm has ends pivoting on the unsprung portion and on a proportioner control arm so that the arm maintains a constant length during relative movements of the vehicle sprung and unsprung portions, modifying the action of the brake proportioner in accordance with such movements. The movements are proportional to vehicle load. The arm provides for compression or extension without affecting the proportioner when unsprung movements between gross vehicle curb weight (no load) and gross vehicle full weight (full load) positions are exceeded in either direction. The movement of the unsprung portion of the vehicle below the position for curb weight is known as rebound and above the curb weight position is known as jounce. The excess jounce travel beyond the gross vehicle full weight causes the arm to compress without further modifying the proportioner. The rebound travel of the vehicle unsprung portion permits the arm to extend without affecting the proportioner and also keeps the arm located in its proper relation with the vehicle sprung and unsprung portions. A modification uses a spring as the modifying arm. The proportioner is arranged so that the spring will extend upon jounce, will maintain its effective length when unsprung movements occur between the gross vehicle curb weight and the gross vehicle full weight positions, and will decrease its effective length when the unsprung movement exceeds the gross vehicle full weight position in the rebound direction.

Brake actuating pressure proportioning system and proportioner modifying arm therefor

A hydraulic power brake booster powered by power steering gear pump pressure and utilizing an open-center valve so that fluid flows through the booster without pressure reduction when the booster is not activated. The valve assembly includes a radially floating valve seat which provides for self-centering, permits a valve separation operation to pass viscous cold hydraulic fluid or any elements which may tend to overly restrict the valve. It also includes a valve face design providing entrance and exit angles defining a venturi-type passage conductive to laminar flow with consequent reduction in valve noise, and has a hydraulic reaction mechanism which includes an arrangement for supported line pressure.
