An electro-kinetic electro-static air conditioner includes a self-contained ion generator that provides electro-kinetically moved air with ions and safe amounts of ozone. The ion generator includes a high voltage pulse generator whose output pulses are coupled between first and second electrode arrays. Preferably the first array comprises one or more wire electrodes spaced staggeringly apart from a second array comprising hollow “U”-shaped electrodes. Preferably a ratio between effective area of an electrode in the second array compared to effective area of an electrode in the first array exceeds about 15:1 and preferably is about 20:1. An electric field produced by the high voltage pulses between the arrays produces an electrostatic flow of ionized air containing safe amounts of ozone. A bias electrode, electrically coupled to the second array electrodes, affects net polarity of ions generated. The outflow of ionized air and ozone is thus conditioned.

The present invention pertains to methods utilizing ozone treatment for abating allergens, pathogens, odors, and volatile organic compounds. The methods can be employed to abate pollutants, bacteria, viruses, mold, dander, funguses, dust mites, animal and smoke odors, and the like. The present invention includes a cleaning apparatus having a reservoir containing water, the reservoir able to be easily manipulated by a user to dispense the water, a device for increasing the level of oxidative properties in the water, and a circulation flow path communicating with the reservoir and the device to allow at least some of the water in the reservoir to flow from the reservoir to the device and back to the reservoir.

One embodiment of a decontamination device for a surface, such as a probe, and method thereof in accordance with the present invention includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a transformer. The first electrode comprises a housing with an opening and one end of the second electrode is positioned in the opening. The second electrode has an elongated-shape which tapers to a point at the one end adjacent to the opening. The transformer is mounted in the housing and has first and second pairs of leads. One of the second pair of leads is coupled to the first electrode and the other of the second pair of leads is coupled to the second electrode. A surface to be cleaned is placed adjacent to the point and the device is turned on for a preset period of time to generate free radicals, such as ozone plasma, which remove debris build-up on the surface.

Decontamination device and method thereof

This invention relates to a novel ozone generator device for the production of high concentrations of ozone by way of a design that permits a process environment that is consonant with the optimum values of hardware and operating variables that thermodynamically favor the production of ozone. The device is characterized by a small corona chamber resulting in a low oxygen retention time, a thermally conductive ducted core permitting circulation of a coolant for cooling the feed oxygen and produced ozone, a spherical corona chamber and electrode geometry promoting a homogeneous high electric field density, operating pressures as high as 2000 psi, free expansion cooling of the oxygen at both the inlet and outlet ports of the device, and the selection of an electrode that ensures the production and maintenance of a homogeneous corona. Also disclosed is a closed-loop ozone generator system wherein unused feed oxygen is recovered and recycled for further processing by the system. Uses of the ozone generator device of this invention is more diverse than uses described in the background by virtue of the increased ozone production of the device over the background art, and includes remediation of biofoulants, biocontaminants, chlorine, chloramines and organic contaminants from drinking and process water, and the removal of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide from flue gases.
