A new coronavirus, called COVID-19, is an acute respiratory disease, which may arouse many psychological disorders since there is no specialized knowledge about it. The present study aimed to investigate the level of resilience and its relationship with hypochondriasis in nurses working in a COVID-19 reference hospital in south of Iran. This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020, in which 312 nurses participated using the census method. Data collection tools were the Conker-Davidson standard resilience scale (CD-RISC) and the Evans Hypoglycaemia Awareness Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression using SPSS software version 23. The mean scores of resilience and hypochondriasis were 72.38 ± 7.11 and 49.75 ± 8.13, respectively, indicating the moderate level of these two variables among nurses. Hypochondriasis in 18.91, 61.22, and 1.28% of the nurses was mild, moderate, and severe, respectively. There was a significant negative correlation between resilience and hypochondriasis (r = − 0.214 and P < 0.001). In this regard, control (P < 0.001), positive acceptance of change (P < 0.001), spiritual effects (P = 0.001), trust in individual instincts (P = 0.001), and perception of competence (P = 0.002) were detected as the predictors of nurses’ hypochondriasis. The nurses had moderate levels of resilience and hypochondriasis. Promoting knowledge about COVID-19and increasing information on how to protect oneself and others against the disease along with supportive packages from their managers are thus recommended.

The relationship between professional self-concept and work-related quality of life of nurses working in the wards of patients with COVID-19

Introduction This study was performed to determine the clinical outcomes of patients with mild symptoms of COVID-19 discharged from the emergency department. Methods The present descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study was performed on 400 patients discharged with a diagnosis of COVID-19 from the emergency departments of hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in the time period of 21 March-21 June, 2020. The disease characteristics and demographic data were collected by phone calls during the first, third, and fourth weeks using a researcher-made questionnaire. Finally, the data were analyzed by univariate logistic regression and cross-tabulation using the IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 20. Results In the first week of follow-up, 23(5.8%) patients died, of whom seven patients were female and 16 were male (mean age of death: 70.73±3.27). Out of 41 (10.3%) patients with underlying diseases, 7 (17.1%) died; but out of 359 (89.8%) cases with no history of disease only 16 (4.5%) died. The risk of death in subjects with a history of underlying diseases was 3.27 times higher than those without a history of disease (P = 0.02) (OR = 3.27, 95% CI, 1.20–8.87); and this risk was 1.41 times higher in patients with more family members (P = 0.04) (OR = 1.41, 95% CI, 1.01–1.97). Furthermore, 81 (20.3%) patients had spread the virus to others in their households and disregarded hygiene guidelines such as washing hands, keeping social distancing, and wearing face masks after discharge. In addition, family members of these patients were 16.37 times more likely to be infected than patients who followed the protocols (P ≤ 0.001) (OR = 16.37, 95% CI, 9.10–29.45). Conclusion Since our findings showed that mortality rate is high in the first week after patients’ referral to the emergency departments, the health status of infected people should be carefully monitored daily in this period.

Evaluation of clinical outcomes of patients with mild symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) discharged from the emergency department.

War as an unpleasant and stressful phenomenon could be the cause of psychiatric disorders. This study aims to collect and compare conducted research to estimate the prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in combatants, veterans, and freed soldiers of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war. This study is a case review study in which articles were found using keywords, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), veterans, combatants, captive, soldiers and war in domestic and foreign databases, personal archives, libraries of Iran and Tehran Universities of Medical Sciences and the National Library. The cumulative incidence of PTSD was determined to be 27.8% in veterans, combatants, and freed soldiers. The prevalence of PTSD as seen in civilian and some military studies is less than the values determined in this study. Reasons for this discrepancy may be due to longer durations of exposure and greater numbers of in-the-field missions, multiple traumas, and higher rates of combat exposure, as well as differences in sampling and measurement strategies (e.g. the use of questionnaires instead of clinical interviews).

Studying the Prevalence of PTSD in Veterans, Combatants and Freed Soldiers of Iran-Iraq War: A Systematic and Meta-analysis Review.

Background and Aim: Early and early detection of psychological distress and ensuring the psychological health levels of military personnel using screening tools is of great importance in increasing the performance and combat capability of the armed forces. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Iranian version of the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-38) in military personnel and to compile a lie detector scale for it. Methods: The present study was a descriptive and correlational psychometric design. The statistical population included all the employees of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, from which 420 people were selected by cluster sampling. The Mental Health Inventory (MHI-38), the Beck Anxiety Scale (BAI), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDA-II) and the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) were used to collect data. Face validity and internal consistency were assessed using qualitative method and Cronbach's alpha coefficient, respectively. Pearson correlation coefficient was also used to evaluate the reliability of retest, concurrent validity, divergent validity and convergent validity. Results: The internal consistency values of the Cronbach's alpha mental health checklist for well-being and psychological distress and the whole scale were 0.79, 0.80 and 0.81, respectively. Also, the reliability coefficient of the retest was calculated to be 0.79, 0.76 and 0.75, respectively. Simultaneous validity of the mental health inventory was -0.55 for psychological well-being and 0.65 for psychological helplessness. Also, divergent validity for well-being and psychological helplessness was -0.59 and -0.64, respectively, and convergent validity was 0.65 and 0.51, respectively. All coefficients were significant at the level of P <0.01. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be said that the mental health inventory has good reliability and validity and can be used for research and clinical purposes in the field of mental health of the military.
