Journal ArticleDOI
A model of interrupted road traffic noise
TL;DR: The theory discussed in the present study enables us to predict the time-average sound level, LAT, when the distance between the stopping line and the receiver exceeds the road width, acceleration length, and the length of the vehicle’s queue.
Journal ArticleDOI
Representative spectrum of road traffic noise.
Rufin Makarewicz,Yasuyuki Sato +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors derived the dependence of traffic noise annoyance on the traffic speed and the percentage of heavy vehicles on the normalized A-weighted sound pressure level of the traffic noise.
Journal ArticleDOI
Railroad noise in an open space
Rufin Makarewicz,Minoru Yoshida +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a model to estimate the exposure level and the time-average sound level of a high-speed train in an open space, where the receiver is assumed to be close to the track.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Simple Model of Outdoor Noise Propagation
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple model of ground effect and turbulence, which are disturbed by other wave phenomena, is developed, which makes it possible to predict the sound level, L A, of noise from a stationary source (i.e. industrial noise) and the time-average sound level L AeqT of noise coming from moving sources (e.g. road traffic).
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of ground effect and refraction on road traffic noise
TL;DR: In this article, a simplified model of ground effect and refraction was applied for the motionless atmosphere with a linear sound speed profile, and the model made possible the prediction of LAeqT at an altitude of a few tens of meters above the ground surface, within a few hundred meters from the road.
