This paper embodies the results of a preliminary survey of the aphid fauna from Kuti Valley (3,658–6,630 metre), Uttar Pradesh, India. Seventeen species, distributed over 12 genera, are reported, of which Macrosiphoniella sudhakaris, Paczoskia budhium and Uroleucon kumaoni are new. The apterous form of Micromyzus judenkoi Carver is also described for the first time. Alate males for Brevicoryne brassicae (Kltb.), Chaetosiphon (Pentatrichopus) fragaefoli (Cockerell), Dysaphis sp.t and Jacksonia sp. are recorded for the first time from India.

Uroleucon formosanum (Takahashi) and U. sonchellum (Monell) (Hemi- ptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae: Macrosiphini) are species of very similar morphology. Descriptions, illustrations, morphological measurements and a diagnosis are provided.

Uroleucon formosanum (Takahashi) and Uroleucon sonchellum (Monell) (Hemiptera, Aphididae): Morphological Comparison and Diagnosis

Until now, five species of the subgenus Uroleucon (Uromelan) have been recognized in Korea. This is the first report of Uroleucon (Uromelan) adenophorae (Matsumura, 1918) occurring on Adenophora triphylla (Campanulaceae) in Gangwon-do, South Korea. Host plants are reviewed and an identification key to species is presented for six Uroleucon (Uromelan) species from the Korean Peninsula.

Taxonomic review of the subgenus Uroleucon (Uromelan) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in the Korean peninsula

Uroleucon (Uromelan) helichrysi sp. n. (Hemiptera, Aphididae, Aphidinae: Macrosiphini) is established from Iranian apterous and alate viviparous females caught on Helichrysum sp. (Asteraceae) and preserved in the collection of the Natural History Museum (BMNH) in London. The number of setae on the first tarsal segments (5), the number of caudal setae (20 to 28), the presence of abdominal marginal tubercles on abdominal segments 2 to 4, and the size of the cells of the siphuncular reticulation (relatively small) allow the new species to be distinguished from other Palaeartic species of the subgenus Uromelan. A new iranian species of uroleucon mordvilko, 1914 (hemiptera, aphididae) from specimens in the natural history museum collection

This study separated the crude extract (70% ethanol) of and its three fractions (hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts) on the basis of polarity indexes, and examined for their insecticidal activities against aphid (Uroleucon lactucicola). For crude extraction, the 70% ethanol extract showed the best extract yield (58.0%) and insecticidal activity (69.0%) among the various concentrations tested (water, 30% ethanol, 50% ethanol, 70% ethanol and 95% ethanol). The major chemical compounds of different fractions (hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate extracts) were identified as eugenol by head space-GC-MS analysis. The hexane extract showed the highest eugenol content (43.7%) and insecticidal activity (80.0%). The insecticidal activity is accordingly believed to be attributable to the eugenol component. This may provide a useful starting point for the development of bio-pesticides.
