Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of Rhodobacter capsulatus genes encoding a molybdenum transport system and putative molybdenum-pterin-binding proteins.

TL;DR: The MopA and MopB proteins showed a high degree of amino acid sequence homology to each other, and had significant sequence similarity to low-molecular-weight molybdenum-pterin-binding proteins from Clostridium pasteurianum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Promoters controlling expression of the alternative nitrogenase and the molybdenum uptake system in Rhodobacter capsulatus are activated by NtrC, independent of sigma54, and repressed by molybdenum.

TL;DR: TheAlternative nitrogenase of Rhodobacter capsulatus is expressed only under conditions of nitrogen and molybdenum depletion and dual control occurred at the level of transcription of anfA, which encodes a transcriptional activator specific for the alternative nitrogenase.
Book ChapterDOI

Regulation of Molybdenum and Alternative Nitrogenases in the Photosynthetic Purple Bacterium Rhodobacter Capsulatus

TL;DR: No genes involved in the general nitrogen metabolism are activated by R. capsulatus NifRl, but under conditions of nitrogen limitation this nif specific Ntr-system activates two functional copies of nifA, which in turn activate all other nitrogen fixation genes.
