Evapotranspiration Estimation with Remote Sensing and Various Surface Energy Balance Algorithms—A Review

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the basic theories, observational methods, and different surface energy balance algorithms for estimating evapotranspiration (ET) from landscapes and regions with remotely sensed surface temperatures is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aerosol effects on the enhancement of cloud-to-ground lightning over major urban areas of South Korea

TL;DR: In this paper, a long term (1989-1999) investigation has been made using the cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning flash data collected to study the aerosol effect on lightning activity over five major urban areas of South Korea.
Journal ArticleDOI

Study of cloud-to-ground lightning and precipitation and their seasonal and geographical characteristics over Taiwan

TL;DR: In this article, a long term (1998-2006) study of annual precipitation and cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning has been made at 31 stations over Taiwan, and a positive linear correlation is observed between precipitation and lightning flash density with a highest correlation coefficient of 0.70 over inland stations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of high-resolution FORMOSAT-2 satellite images for post-earthquake disaster assessment: a study following the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a satellite image analysis of the landslide following the Wenchuan earthquake and its consequences, and demonstrates how remote sensing techniques can be used for civilian crisis management purpose and disaster relief.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhancement of cloud-to-ground lightning activity over Taipei, Taiwan in relation to urbanization

TL;DR: In this paper, a long term study was performed to investigate the enhancement of lightning activity in and around Taipei City, the largest metropolitan city of Taiwan, in relation to urbanization, for the period of 2005-2010.
