The aim of the study is to recognize the pattern of the interactive association between SC operational capability and corporate competitive capability for improving performance. Moreover, the study is based on analyzing the influence of SC integration on the interactive relation as a strategic lever. There is a need to consider potential implications of efficient relation between SC operational capability and corporate competitive capability to develop integrated and coherent strategies for the strategic role of SCM. The decisions linked with the sourcing of products, planning capacity, conversion into final products, distribution, communication, demand management, and delivery is regarded as SC operational capability. The study has opted the SEM-PLS for the analysis of the data, which is among the most recent and robust data analysis technique especially for the structural issues in social sciences. The data is collected with the aid of a questionnaire which was developed basing on the prior studies. It has been stressed by previous studies on manufacturing strategy and SCM that the decisions of SCM must be aligned and strategic with the business strategy of the firm. However, consistent results have not revealed by previous literature about the shape of the interactive association between SCM strategy and corporate strategy. There are several implications of this study for theory developers and academicians. The previous frameworks of supply chain practices based on the context of developed countries have been extended by this research by incorporating various dimensions of SCI practices in the context of a developing country. The study has focused on manufacturing firms in Indonesia.

Supply Chain Operational Capability and Supply Chain Operational Performance: Does the Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain Integration Matters?

In advancing relational understandings of resilience and adaptive capacity, this paper explores how business networks influence value chain climate resilience and the ability of small businesses to adapt to climate change. The relationship between value chain network attributes (i.e. connectivity and an actor’s centrality) and indicators of value chain resilience (e.g. information sharing, flexibility and redundancy) is investigated through the analysis of qualitative data derived from field interviews and from the quantitative assessment of network metrics characterising information, financial and material flows of three agricultural value chains in Jamaica. The study illustrates how network analysis offers a systematic approach for understanding value chain resilience and the adaptive capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and supports strategy development in business value chains. The study concludes that mixed-methods networked approaches provide valid methods for exploring a relational understanding of climate resilience in value chains, opening up new research opportunities for scholars interested in private sector climate adaptation.

Value chain climate resilience and adaptive capacity in micro, small and medium agribusiness in Jamaica: a network approach

Supply chain management (SCM) focused on large companies has received much attention from academics and industry practitioners. However, there is a dearth of studies covering SCM in small enterprises due to the differences between the realities of large and small enterprises, making it challenging to harness the existing accumulated knowledge of SCM for smaller ventures. Small enterprises are of great importance to the economy of many countries, especially in emerging markets such as Brazil. In this context, this article aims to expand the knowledge of SCM in small enterprises by analyzing SCM practices in companies in the State of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). The practices analyzed in this research are customer relationship management, operations management practices, planning and business processes, and supplier relationship management. It provides a practical guide to implement and manage SCM practices in small enterprises successfully.

Supply Chain Management Practices in Small Enterprises: A Practical Implementation Guidance

Transport efficiency is becoming increasingly important due to their high impact on companies’ results. In this article, some factors which influence the transport cost are presented in order to perform an empirical study with the aim of determining the level of impact of each one. By analyzing data from 81 companies, we found which factors have more influence on transport cost and, consequently, on its efficiency. Study results also indicate the level of influence of each aspect depending on the type of fleet used. Considering the levels of influence found, companies could pay attention to these aspects in order to improve their transport performance.

What Are the Main Factors that Reduce the Efficiency of Road Transport? An Exploratory Study

Highlighting the importance of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) for economic development and growth, and the appearance of their supply chain vulnerability due to the pandemic attack. Thus, the aim of this research is to propose a framework linking the supply chain management practices (SCMPs) of MSMEs to CRM objectives for the purpose of improving MSMEs’ operational performance. This article conducted a systematic review of all available publications from two prominent databases (WoS and Scopus) through PRISMA guidelines to explore the relationship between variables upon which the theoretical framework will be identified. Followed by semi-structured interviews with MSMEs’ eco-system stakeholders to validate the proposed framework using content analysis based on NVivo software. The findings revealed the relationship between SCMPs and CRM objectives through MSMEs’ operational performance, and a set of indicators has been determined for each variable, upon which a theoretical framework has been developed. Moreover, content analysis for interviews validates the key determinants for SCMPs, operational performance, customer satisfaction, and loyalty for MSMEs, upon which a proposed framework has been developed. This research provides a framework that can be used by academics and practitioners to assess the impact of SCMPs on CRM objectives through improving MSMEs’ operational performance and corrective action for MSMEs’ procedures.

Linking Supply Chain Management Practices of Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises to Customer Relationship Management Objectives: A Proposed Framework

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are a major source of dynamism, innovation and flexibility for emerging and developing countries, as well as for the economies of the most industrialised nations. However, the survival and growth of SMEs can be difficult in the current competitive business environment and global marketplace. It can be a real challenge to deliver the right product and service at the most opportune time and at the lowest possible cost to the right customer. The challenge stresses the importance of managing cross-boundary relationships between business partners. For gaining a competitive advantage, supply chain management (SCM) is an effective tool to SMEs. Therefore, this paper aims to review the tenet of SCM, its benefits and practices to SMEs.
