Its a collection of essays, mostly rehashed (reused?) and updated from various columns and papers published over the years.. Its a short (a bit over 200 pages) easy reading and enjoyable book (I read most of it in one sitting). 3W’s of Static Software Testing Techniques

Since the invention of magnetic disk, many changes have been made to its hardware technology to increase its performance and capacity. Although disk performance has improved but is relatively less as compared to continuous increase in disk capacity. As such, the design and development of new disk file system and refinement of old ones will need to focus on efficient store and retrieval of data for large storage disks. In this paper, we try to compare some common disk file systems on the basis of Storage Limits, File System Metadata, File System Characteristics & Allocation Strategy to point out the file system that can serve as a template for future file systems and old ones to support large storage capacities.

Efficient Handling of Large Storage: A Comparative Study of Some Disk File Systems

Software testing is the dominant approach in industry to assure software quality. Although crucial to software quality, software testing is mostly less formal and rigorous than it should, and a primary reason for that is because it is not performed systematically. At present more defects are probable due to increased complexity of software while on the other hand organizations cannot afford to let slip many bugs in the field, so software testing should be a balanced exercise in resource and quality management. Serious efforts are required to make software testing process efficient and effective. Although, different organizations have their own software testing guidelines but in general, there are some basic guidelines which must be followed by them to perform testing more effectively and efficiently. The primary focus of this paper is to recommend guidelines to maximize the success probability of software testing process.

A Roadmap for Effective Software Testing

In this paper, we describe a controlled experiment carried out to compare three software testing methods: code reading, functional testing and structural testing. The experiment was carried out with eighteen subjects who applied three techniques to three C programs in a fractional factorial experimental design. The main results of the study are that all testing techniques are equivalent in terms of effectiveness; however the techniques differ partially in terms of efficiency.
