Abstract: The objective of this paper is to examine right to food in the Indian context. We analyse the right to food in terms of availability, accessibility, adequacy and sustainability. These are examined in terms of equity and justiciability. The study is different from the earlier studies on food security as it is based on human rights approach. The issue of food is approached from the rights perspective. Progress is examined in terms of availability, accessibility (physical and economic). policies and Programmes are scrutinized in terms of obligation to respect, protect and fulfill (facilitate and provide).
