A Storage Ring Experiment to Detect a Proton Electric Dipole Moment

TL;DR: In this paper, a new experiment was described to detect a permanent electric dipole moment of the proton with a sensitivity of $10−29}e\cdot$cm by using polarized "magic" momentum $0.7$~GeV/c protons in an allelectric storage ring.
Journal ArticleDOI

Driven response of the synchrotron motion of a beam.

TL;DR: In this paper, the synchroton motion of a beam was tracked by digitizing the phase of the beam signal from a high bandwidth wall gap monitor relative to the rf phase and the momentum deviation with a transverse beam position measurement in a high dispersion region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental study of synchro-betatron coupling induced by dipole modulation

TL;DR: Synchro-betatron coupling in a proton storage ring with electron cooling was studied experimentally by modulating a transverse dipole field close to the synchrotron frequency and the combination of the electron cooling and transverse field modulation is equivalent to a dissipative parametric resonant system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Attainment of space-charge dominated beams in a synchrotron

TL;DR: For a given rf cavity voltage, there is a maximum attainable peak current in an ion storage ring and the linear charge density distribution is parabolic and incoherent synchrotron motion is suppressed.
