Journal ArticleDOI

Insect sex chromosomes

TL;DR: The functional status of the X chromosome in Acheta domesticus has been analyzed at the whole chromosome level on the basis of 3H-thymidine autoradiography, 5-BrdU/AO fluorescence microscopy, in vivo 5-brdU incorporation and induced aberrations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Studies on rodent chromosomes. II. Autoradiographic study of the sex chromosomes of the Indian gerbil, Tatera indica cuverii (Waterhouse) and its bearing on the Lyon hypothesis.

TL;DR: Autoradiographic studies indicate that the two morphologically distinguishable X chromosomes are out-of-phase in DNA replication in approximately equal proportion and thus substantiate the random inactivation hypothesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Insect sex chromosomes: IX. X chromosome linkage of glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) locus in Gryllotalpa fossor (orthoptera)

TL;DR: Electrophoretic analysis of G-6-PD from single individuals of Gryllotalpa fossor from a wild population indicated that this locus is X-linked and the polymorphic forms could be identified by the variations in their mobility (fast and slow).
