Advances in information and communication technology have created innovator technologies such as cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data analysis and artificial intelligence. These technologies have penetrated production systems and converted them smart. However, this transformation did not only affect production systems, but also differentiated supplier selection processes. In the supplier selection process, the usage of new technologies along with traditional and green criteria extensively has been investigated in recent years. This paper aims to develop a new group decision-making approach based on Industry 4.0 components for selecting the best green supplier by integrating AHP and TOPSIS methods under the Pythagorean fuzzy environment. In the proposed approach, judgments of different experts are expressed by linguistic terms based on Pythagorean fuzzy numbers. The interval-valued Pythagorean Fuzzy AHP method is utilized to determine the criteria weights. The Pythagorean Fuzzy TOPSIS method based on the distances of suppliers is applied to obtain the ranking of the suppliers and determine the most suitable one. Finally, a real case study on an agricultural tools and machinery company is presented to indicate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed selection approach.

A novel Pythagorean fuzzy AHP and fuzzy TOPSIS methodology for green supplier selection in the Industry 4.0 era

Many managers and firm owners nowadays pay special attention to green supplier selection to gain competitive advantage all over the world. Consequently, this subject a critical and significant decision for firms. This study utilizes an extension to analytical hierarchy process (AHP) under interval type-2 fuzzy environment (IT2FAHP) model to better cope with ambiguity and vagueness for solving supplier selection problem considering green concepts. A real case application is also performed in a home appliance manufacturer to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the IT2FAHP model in the present paper. The findings indicate that the most important factors that are effective in selecting green suppliers are cleaner production, energy/material saving, green package, remanufacturing, and environmental management system. Further, a comparison and a sensitivity analysis are conducted to display the consistency and stability of the proposed model. The findings reveal that the IT2FAHP model is quite consistent with the models in literature and green product, cleaner production, green design, and green package have a significant positive effect on performances of green suppliers.

Development of sustainable supplier selection index for new product development using multi criteria decision making

Materials selection in manufacturing process is an important stage and should be performed in parallel with selection of manufacturing process. In automotive industry, production of green automotive component could utilize the natural sources such as plant fibres. In recent years, several multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques are suggested to choose the best materials for particular application. Materials selection tools for natural fibre composites are studied from past researchers with the summary of the advantage and disadvantages. In addition, new optimization approach in materials selection by using statistical analysis such as multiple linear regression (MLR), response surface methodology (RSM) and Taguchi method (TM) is proposed in this study. The proposed method could evaluate the criteria or attribute in materials selection precisely by analyse the relationship of the parameters, goodness of fit, correlation, analysis of variance (ANOVA), determination of coefficient and the significant criteria in to the desired goal of the design problem.

Multi-criteria decision-making tools for material selection of natural fibre composites: a review

One of the most important agendas of the world is the topic of global warming. In order to protect the ecological balance, all organizations turning towards using natural resources more effectively and not harming the environment. Increasing social expectation, legal regulations, and diminishing natural resources necessitate the dissemination of these orientations in all areas. Enterprises’ supply chain management applications are also affected by this situation, and the concept of green supply chain management which reflects the environmentalist perspective has emerged. One of the most important stages of this chain is to find suppliers who care about the environment. Choosing a green supplier is of great importance for both the business and the environment. In this study, 11 environmental criteria were defined for green supplier evaluation and SWARA-TOPSIS integrated method was used to determine the most suitable supplier. Furthermore, a case study for an international yachting company operating in Turkey was also presented in this study. Based on the results of the study, it was seen that supplier 2 was the most suitable among five prominent alternative suppliers, and “environmental management system”, “senior management’s support and commitment”, and “green image” criteria were ranked as the top three criteria among the 11 determined criteria.

Green supplier evaluation with SWARA-TOPSIS integrated method to reduce ecological risk factors

Adoption of environmental management practices is essential in every industry to satisfy the customers, and environmental regulation policies along with improvement of environmental performance. Environmental practices are not only based on the industry alone, supplier is also one of the partners to improve industries environmental image through supplying environmental friendly products. Selection of a suitable supplier based on environmental criteria is a challenging and difficult task for industries because there are many criteria available for selection of suitable environment friendly suppliers to improve industry environmental image. Industries should know which criterion is the most important for the selection of green supplier. This study investigates and ranks the environmental criteria for the green supplier selection based on expert’s judgment in an Indian automobile sector perspective. The analytical hierarchy process is used to rank the criteria.

The study was conducted in Dindigul District of Tamil Nadu the researchers have used survey methods to collect the primary data structure. Interviews were conducted on convenience sampling of non-probability methods and 300 samples have been selected from 6 educational institutions samples are collected on the basis of simple random techniques. The complete students of postgraduates are having keen aspiration and gaining proper training and knowledge through their educational institutions which motivates them to start up a business.
