Internet of things: A survey on enabling technologies, application and standardization

This article applies an incremental online identification algorithm to develop a set of evolving fuzzy models (FMs) that characterize the nonlinear finger dynamics of the human hand for the myoelectric (ME)-based control of a prosthetic hand. The FM inputs are the ME signals obtained from eight ME sensors and past inputs and/or outputs. The FM outputs are the finger angles, considered here as the midcarpal joint angles, to ensure their control. The best evolving FMs that characterize each of the five fingers are described with the results validated on real data. Simple second-order linear models are next given to enable the cost-effective controller design. Five separate control loops are proposed, with proportional–integral (PI) controllers separately tuned by a frequency-domain approach. Simple PI-fuzzy controllers are designed starting with the linear PI controllers to ensure the control system performance improvement. The evolving FMs are used to simulate accurately the behavior of the human hand. Digital simulation results are included to show the effectiveness of the PI-fuzzy controllers and the performance improvement in comparison to the initial PI ones.

Evolving Fuzzy Models for Prosthetic Hand Myoelectric-Based Control

Depending on the requirements of specific applications, implanted materials including metals, ceramics, and polymers have been used in various disciplines of medicine. Titanium and its alloys as implant materials play a critical role in the orthopedic and dental procedures. However, they still require the utilization of surface modification technologies to not only achieve the robust osteointegration but also to increase the antibacterial properties, which can avoid the implant-related infections. This article aims to provide a summary of the latest advances in surface modification techniques, of titanium and its alloys, specifically in biomedical applications. These surface techniques include plasma spray, physical vapor deposition, sol-gel, micro-arc oxidation, etc. Moreover, the microstructure evolution is comprehensively discussed, which is followed by enhanced mechanical properties, osseointegration, antibacterial properties, and clinical outcomes. Future researches should focus on the combination of multiple methods or improving the structure and composition of the composite coating to further enhance the coating performance.

Surface Modification Techniques of Titanium and its Alloys to Functionally Optimize Their Biomedical Properties: Thematic Review.

With the development of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT), the era of big data‐driven product design is booming. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) is also emerging and evolving by recent breakthroughs in computing power and software architectures. In this regard, the digital twin, analyzing various sensor data with the help of AI algorithms, has become a cutting‐edge technology that connects the physical and virtual worlds, in which the various sensors are highly desirable to collect environmental information. However, although existing sensor technologies, including cameras, microphones, inertial measurement units, etc., are widely used as sensing elements for various applications, high‐power consumption and battery replacement of them is still a problem. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) as self‐powered sensors supply a feasible platform for realizing self‐sustainable and low‐power systems. Herein, the recent progress on TENG‐based intelligent systems, that is, wearable electronics, robot‐related systems, and smart homes, followed by prospective future development enabled by sensor fusion technology, is focused on. Finally, how to apply artificial intelligence to the design of intelligent sensor systems for the 5G and IoT era is discussed.

Monitoring plays a more vital role in cloud computing platforms to pledge the dependability of cloud computing structures. IoT based remote platform has the main advantage of unveiling communication ports and firewall when multi-user cloud service was tangled. The proposed work focuses on a multi-user remote system encompasses Raspberry Pi with the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. In this paper, it is aimed to develop a web Monitor for the press shop assembly in an industrial environment to effectively monitor and control the field parameters. In the present work, IoT based industrial monitoring and control system is applied to collect pressure and temperature from a press shop assembly section in the industry and expected to shrink commercial hardware and software expenses, permitting online dispersal and unrestricted usage. The established Web-Remote Monitor can be operated by Internet-oriented computational hardware which retrieves acquired data from the cloud as charts and logs. The developed IoT based industrial remote monitoring and control system executes identifying and fine-tuning press shop assembly monitoring via isolated firmware running on the cloud. Thus, this approach exploits Embedded System with PIC which commqunicates with an industrialized cloud-centric server profile via Raspberry Pi based Python System, hence not entails dedicated computing devices.

The modern wireless sensor network is focused on integrating the emerging technology of IoT with the real world for enhanced data processing to improve automation and communication more smartly and safely. In the present industrial upgradation with IoT application greatly proved its positive influences on the operation and management phases along with progressive adoption of cloud computing and big data analytics. In Industry, smart monitoring and distributed control of entire architecture are hold up with the renovated technology of the Internet of Things (IoT). It lies on the top layer of the wireless communication network to afford enhanced connectivity among smart wireless or wired sensor with the embedded modern controller to the cloud server. In IoT application, real-time data acquisition is done securely and transmitted to the data analytics services to identify any catastrophic situation existence. It is reliable and moved industrial automation to the next step evolution of formulating to make proactive decisions to decide and react to the industrial variation constraints. Though modernization has shifted to analog to the digital generation, it is interoperable with available protocols and data standardizations in industrial sectors. Hence this paper enumerates the detailed configurations and features of IoT application involved in the modern communication platform towards the development of smart cities by incorporating data mining using AI (Artificial Intelligence). Further, the trending overview of Industrial IoT application in risk-based environments with complete knowledge-based architecture with incorporated wireless technology and protocols are outlined.
