A warning device for mounting onto a vehicle, in order to attract the attention of the driver when another vehicle (2) or object is located in a position that is wholly or partially critical for the driver. The device comprises two sources (5, 6) of laser radiation arranged at a distance from each other, a convex lens (8) arranged outside of each source and a position-sensitive radiation detector (7) arranged between the sources (5, 6). The device reacts with different levels of warning signals on the detection of direction indicator (58), angular deviation (60) of a wheel or the steering wheel, speed (62), etc., in combination.

Blind spot detector

The distance measuring apparatus comprises a light
transmission optical system for transmitting a light
beam having intensity distribution (66) with a pair of
peaks, and a reception system for measuring a distance
to an obstacle (70) on the basis of reflected light
from the obstacle (70). The light transmission optical
system has a pair of light transmission units (40, 50)
for transmitting two light beams (48, 58), each having
the Gaussian intensity distribution (62, 64), and
composition of the two light beams (48, 58) forms the
light beam having the intensity distribution (66) with
the pair of peaks. The light transmission units (40,
50) are arranged at positions near both ends of a front
portion of an automobile (60), to transmit the two
light beams (48, 58) in parallel from the positions.
An interval between the peaks is a distance (L)
corresponding to an area in which the degree of danger
to life is high in the collision against the obstacle
(70), i.e. about 1m. The feet of the light intensity
distribution (66) with the pair of peaks fall within
the width of the automobile (60).

Distance measuring apparatus

The optical distance measurer comprises light or infra red transmitter and receive transducer pairs. At least one of the transmitters or receivers, has opposing operating directions so that the optical coupling, appearing through reflection at the object between the transducers vary in distance relative to each other. A circuit for control and analysis of the signal conditions may also be provided. USE/ADVANTAGE - Produces more distinct and high quality image. Needs no mechanical adjustment. Inexpensive. Greater selectivity.

The invention provides a collision prevention detector (22), and a method therefore, to be mounted on a vehicle (10), transmitting a sequence of transmissions of IR signals. The signals are transmitted in sequences alternating between at least one at the right and to the left positioned LED (24, 26, 34, 36), when both signals provide a return/reflected signal to IR-receiver an object (12) is determined as present within the area/zone from the point where the transmitted signals intersect/cross. Sequencing of signals makes it possible to position a return signal from an object (12), as one of the signals has to confirm the other signal to provide a warning signal. Moreover, a first set of LED's detect objects in a near-field zone (40) of the vehicle, and a second set detecting objects beyond the first field in a far-field zone (42), whereby at least two sets of the LED's are positioned to the right and to the left.

Vehicle collision detector

Warning device for fitting to a vehicle to attract the driver's attention with a signal when a second vehicle (2) or object finds itself in a position that is wholly or partially critical for the driver. The device includes two sources (5, 6) of electromagnetic radiation located at a distance from each other, a convex lens (8) mounted on the outside of the respective sources plus a position-sensitive radiation detector (7) arranged between sources (5, 6) and also fitted with an externally mounted convex lens (8). The sources (5, 6) and detector (7) are a part of an integrated circuit with the sources modulated to activate with a phase displacement and the beams (8, 9) from sources (5, 6) are adjusted to cut one another at a predetermined distance from the device.

A lining for a flight of stairs consists of pieces of needle loom mat of carpet material or of insulating material on an elastomer basis, 3-8 mm thick, for the tread as well as for the riser. Near the edge of each stair step, both pieces are bonded to angle straps at tight angles to each other, with an edge piece of the same height as the linings, shaped like a quadrant with a ribbed surface. The preferred material for the angle straps and the edge piece is rigid PVC, or rigid PVC for the straps and flexible PVC for the edge piece. This offers great resistance to impacts and shocks and has a long life.

A real image moves relatively to the image correlator. A structure is projected on the object within the field of vision of the correlator, whose azimuthal orientation is rigidly coupled with that of the correlation structure. Amplitude and fundamental wave of the photoelectric signals generated by the interaction of light fluxes are reflected from the object with the correlator, and are evaluated in order to obtain the distance to the object. A projector connected to the image correlator projects an image of the structure onto the tested object; this structure changes its shape only in accordance with a given spatial direction, and its shape and orientation correspond to the correlation structures.
