Active ageing and solidarity between generations in Europe and beyond. A view from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe

This research aims to identify which factors best explain business dynamics and innovation capacity in the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. To achieve this, data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor and the Global Competitiveness Report is used. The linear regression method is utilized with the stepwise procedure for data analysis. It is possible to ascertain that, with a view to increasing innovation capacity in the African continent, business leaders and managers should be acquainted with innovation studies to better understand technological advances. In relation to Asia, the detected models of business dynamism and capacity for innovation are positive. On the European continent, the results show that RIS3 has a positive impact on the capacity for innovation. In Latin America and the Caribbean, it seems that business dynamism and the capacity for innovation are negative and regional development policies should be more flexible. In North America, it appears that business dynamism and the capacity for innovation are negative. The research contributes with measures that can be applied by organizations and policymakers to these five continents to improve the performance of business dynamism and the capacity for innovation in their territories. The resulting data give originality to the research as well as important contributions, not only to the theory, but also to the entities (organizations and governments) acting in the field who can implement new policies, such as tax incentives to companies for the first purchase of high-tech equipment, products, or products with intellectual property rights developed by national companies and provide support policies directed to companies that purchase high-tech domestic equipment.

Business dynamism and innovation capacity, an entrepreneurship worldwide perspective

An attempt is made to evaluate the movement of the direct foreign investments based on empirical data in the frames of different categories of countries. Analyzed are the reasons for the increasing FDI in the developing countries. These countries are divided into five groups by the rates, scales and character of the accumulated foreign investments.

Collaboration processes between universities and companies are increasingly relevant for the generation of new knowledge and for promoting innovation. However, the literature highlights the need to delve into the factors that drive and favour these collaboration dynamics. Thus, the present paper aims to identify the success factors in university-industry collaboration processes. For this purpose, a scoping review was performed. We conducted a search in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, in order to find documents related to the subject until 2019. As a result of the scoping review, 17 success factors were identified, classified according to the four internal facilitators: structure, strategy, knowledge and relations.

University-industry collaboration: a scoping review of success factors

The paper deals with the notions of ‘examination’ and ‘forensic examination’ subject to Kazakh legislation, the characteristics of these notions’ content as significant in state’s activities is given, that said their distinctive features indicating the need for their differentiation are shown. The object of the research in the article of criminal procedure relations connected with the appointment, the production of forensic examinations, analysis, evaluation and use of their results in the criminal proceedings.The subject of research articles is the legal norms of the Russian (the modern and pre-existing) legislation governing the appointment and manufacture of judicial examination.It is shown that the appointment and examination in the trial court takes place in conditions of transparency, competitiveness, orality and immediacy. It was found that the appointment of judicial examination in judicial stages of self-regulation needed to be.The authors determined the need to provide for the appointment of the examination during the preliminary hearing. The authors also argue that we must distinguish between the following situations related to the appointment of the examination at the stage of preparation of the case for the court hearing and the trial. It is shown that, depending on these situations provided certain judges algorithm of actions on the issues under investigation.

On the Notions of ‘Examination’ and ‘Forensic Examination’ According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan

In recent years, Kazakhstan’s innovation policy has enjoyed a noticeable rally: ways to support innovation are being actively discussed, a suitable “toolbox” is developing, the susceptibility of decision-makers to the mechanisms for encouraging innovation is increasing. Nevertheless, effective levers of influence on business, in which innovation activity could manifest locally, have not been found yet. Although this does not change the overall economic situation. Following on from the results of a survey of various level business managers and factor analysis performed prior, the authors study the influence of incentive mechanisms on entity activities and their “inquiry” on the public policy content. The authors come to the conclusion that most of the tools to stimulate innovation entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan are currently aimed at successful market players, creating conditions for technological modernization of existing industries, and at improving the level of entrepreneurs’ business and technological competencies. According to a study conducted in Kazakhstan, it is necessary to increase the participation of universities, research institutes, local executive and legislative authorities in the development of management mechanisms and the promotion of innovation entrepreneurship.

Stimulation of entrepreneurs' innovative activity: evidence from Kazakhstan

Shaping energy-saving behavior in education system plays huge and obvious role in economic and social development. While there is a large amount of literature covering the issues of technical advancements in implementation of energy-saving technologies, organizational and technical aspects of world experience, there is still a lack of publications exploring the scale and features of energy-saving behavior in education system. This paper analyzes features of shaping energy-saving behavior at three levels: school, university, and communities. It systematically reviews 119 WoS and Scopus studies, which allowed us to determine influence factors and prospects of shaping energy-saving behavior for the younger generation and community reps. The paper sets four research questions aimed at data analysis. The results showed (a) the lack of research on issues related to shaping of energy-saving behavior at the school and university levels; (b) that mainly, literature focuses on a comprehensive study of individual and socio-demographic factors affecting energy-saving behavior of communities; (c) that at the university and school levels, situational and individual factors have the greatest impact on energy-saving behavior of students; gaps in socio-demographic factor research; and d) as prospects of shaping energy-saving behavior of students, development of educational programs, implementation of state policy on energy conservation, information on energy conservation issues can be highlighted – all from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to the present. The paper is intended for researchers, education and energy experts interested in possibilities of educational technologies in shaping energy-saving behavior.

Shaping Energy-Saving Behavior in Education System: A Systematic Review

The following paper explores the development of a statistically based index evaluating digitalization processes to assess the digital divide between the regions of Kazakhstan: resource-based (oil and gas) regions and regions where the service sector dominates the GRP. As a method for forming such an indicator, the authors suggest using factor analysis, which reduces the dimension of factors while maintaining the reasoning behind a significant part of the data variability. This approach is preferable because the index is formed on the basis of statistically objective estimates rather than that of subjective expert opinion. The results of the factor analysis were interpreted as the following two qualitatively different subindices that formed the final Economy and Society Digitalization Index, namely, for resource-based (oil and gas) regions: subindex of digital consumption by households and subindex of digital consumption by organizations; for service-dominated regions: subindex of digital consumption by households and organizations, and subindex of digitalization of labor management processes. The combined values of the calculated subindices allowed us to conclude that the introduction of information and communication technologies into the consumer environment is greater than into the activities of economic entities. Open innovations are revealed to create additional opportunities for obtaining new knowledge and additional tools and ideas that can lead to bridging the digital divide in the regions of Kazakhstan. The analysis of descriptive statistics of these values allowed us to draw a number of conclusions available that can be used to form regional digital policy. First, the regional population shows a fairly homogeneous high level of consumption of telecommunications services, which indicates their availability. Second, the majority of economic entities throughout the country have successfully passed the first stage of digitalization, which consists in the use of Internet technologies; although, not all of them are characterized by a trend toward the digitalization of business processes. Thirdly, for most organizations, the digital development of human capital still remains an important task. Further statistical research of regional differentiation of the values of the proposed digital development indicator will allow a deeper understanding of the reasons for the digital divide in Kazakhstan.
